Asus Fonepad 7 and MeMO Pad 8 launched in India exclusively via Flipkart

Asus has finally unveiled the Fonepad 7 (FE171CG) and MeMO Pad 8 (ME581CL) tablets in India. The latest Fonepad 7 tablet was announced at the CES this year and the MeMOPad 8 (ME581CL) was announced at the Computex last year. Asus will be selling both the devices exclusively through Flipkart.

FonePad 7The Fonepad 7 (FE171CG) is a Dual SIM tablet featuring a 7-inch IPS display with 1024 x 600 pixels resolution and Anti-Fingerprint Coating, 178-degree wide viewing angle. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2520 processor paired with PowerVR SGX544 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The device sports an 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front camera and has internal storage of 16GB, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card. The connectivity features include 3G (with voice calling), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat with ZenUI on top and is backed by a 3,950 mAh battery.




MeMOPad 8Now, talking about the MeMOPad 8 (ME581CL), it features an 8-inch Full HD IPS display (1200×1920 pixels) with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The device is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor paired with 2GB of RAM. It sports a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 1.2-megapixel HD front camera and has 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD. The connectivity options include 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and GPS. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat with Zen UI on top and is backed by a 4,350 mAh battery, which is touted by the company to deliver up to 9 hours of backup.

The Asus Fonepad 7 (FE171CG) is available in black and white colors, for a price of Rs. 10,999 and the MemoPad 8 (ME581CL) is available in White, Pink and Blue colors for a price of Rs. 19,999.

Speaking at the launch, Peter Chang, regional head, South Asia and country manager System Business Group, ASUS India said, "These products are set to appease the present day computing needs of the masses. They are very handy and light weight and yet loaded with features which not only keep its users connected but also engaged via fast connectivity and speedy response time. Both the tablets are an assimilation of high end technology and superlative design perfection."
