learn from operator like Loop Mobile which is present in only one circle. And last day they provide roaming at 60rs/month.They care for customer. But this foreign operator don’t know ant thing and no care for customer. They always make profit through customers.
    Great work by LOOP Mobile.

Very sad and disappointed by such plans. Didn’t expected this from Uninor. Still, I wouldn’t say anything on this topic because its still a pocket saver in UP East even though AVOID has also very attractive range of STVs.

If roaming matters me a lot, i would like to take a AVOID SIM with me. Problem solved!

But i am unable to understand anyreason behind the step. Anybody here knows?

price is too high because uninor has license to operate their services in six circles only and you have to roam across India using foreign network most of time.

Hey. Understand the fact that uninor is not pan India operator now. It may have to give some amount to other operator for incoming free facility. I think thats why whe charges are high compared to the AVoId group.

If there is no hope for new operator then why they are continuing there operation in india. No need and force to operate. All company have the tie up with other operators. Here in MP videocon latch TATA DOCOMO network in many place in MP.. Means they have no profit at all. But why they are providing service.. Nothing is there.all compny having a havey profit by in india by operation. Otherwise they dont apply for licence again for there circle after cancelation… Corruption is the problem in all field…

It is clear that Uninor has implemented these plans just name sake so as to meet the requirement laid down by TRAI, these plans are 5 times costlier than those of Pan India operators, these small time telcos are only good to use in their home circles not for roaming purpose.

    • Esmail July 12, 2013 9:10 pm, 9:10 PM

Uninor has no reasons for offering such high tariffs on roaming plans, if its argument is based on the fact that they have presence in only 6 telecom circles and need to pay high sums of money to partner Pan India networks, then what about Loop mobile which has presence in only one circle (Mumbai) and yet it is offering roaming pack of Rs.364 with 180 validity with outgoing tariff lower than comparable plan of 1199 by Uninor. Only other explanation can be that Uninor is raising funds by increasing tariffs so it can bid for spectrum in the upcoming 1800Mhz auctions.

RC 1199 . . . Can we get free incoming in other network or only in Uninor network? If it is in UNINOR network only then why they are charging 1199 just for 4 circles?

Are they mad? Instead of 1199 they should fixed Rs.10199 then no one asking about free roaming . . . They are following TRAI rule. Shame . . . .

I can understand Uninor’s situation which has license in few circles only and it’s difficult for them to provide cheap plans.

Firstly license cancellations made many companies either shut their business and leave India. GoI didn’t even cared to protect investments made by the companies as they had got their one and SC order paved way for them to get more. But some decided to stay in some circles and the established players who want their monopoly and don’t want cheap operators to stay didn’t liked that. So a deal was striked between GoI and Established telecom players wherein GoI suddenly came up with an idea of free roaming with which operators can be given a chance to hike charges or tariffs as without this step it would have been difficult for the operators to do so. Now they have had the reason which was well tailored by telecom department and GoI. The other part of deal was to make those who recently got licenses to suffer because of this as they know that if something like Pan-India free roaming comes, new entrants will not be able to do so and they have to pay extra money to established players resulting in a profit to them and in case they don’t do it they will lose customers and only beneficiaries will be the old operators or so called AVoId group.

BSNL was made to price their plans costlier than AVoId in recent years for the same reason. Govt didn’t do anything against the SMS termination hike by private operators. So all this game is being played by individual interest in GoI and private telecom companies and we’re made fools by tailoring thing in such a way which that the nexus between the corrupt GoI and companies can’t be seen.

Once Mergers and Acquisitions rules arrives which will again pave the way for some telcos to have their monopoly by taking over weak operators, we will see tariffs going up.

Data may become cheap due to rivalry between Reliance Industries and other operators but voice charges will settle once at Rs.1.50/min.

I understand that companies needed a price hike to survive but somethines I even doubt this. The recent hike is truly unacceptable looking at the volumes India has. When you have too many buyers, there is no reason for a company to hike charges.

Whatever, Joy for customers ended on Feb 2, 2012 when that shocker from SC came that wasn’t users friendly at all and then Govt with some illogical thinking came up with price structure that only made customers suffer as at the end companies recovers investments from our pockets.

Currently situation is not hitting the pocket hard but it will. Directly or indirectly tariffs are up by 150 percent in all the three segments of Voice, SMS and data.

Srikapardhi – An average user uses ROAMING for 3-5 days per month (and not every month). Also his/her MOU (Minutes of Usage) on Roaming is 15-20 min. Now tell me is Rs 1199 being charged taking “less margins” ???

    Friends,

For new operators concern, Indian telecom market condition is not viable for providing free roaming across India.

New operators – Roaming plans will be the right setback for old/ established operators like Airtel, BSNL, Idea, Reliance and Vodafone.

Currently 80% of roaming revenue goes to these established operators.
It’s possible only from old and established operators as they have enough owned 2G-BTS across India.

I’m wondering about Roaming plans from (Aircel, MTNL, Loop mobile, Tata DoCoMo, Uninor, Videocon, MTS, Reliance GSM and other new operators).

For these new operators, how they can offers Unlimited Free incoming Calls while their customers in national roaming, even these operators doesn’t have owned towers!

TRAI’s amendment is always favoured to old operators. There is no doubt about it.

For each and every call, these operators forced to pay as carriage fee like long distance fee (roaming charges) for incumbent operators like Airtel, BSNL, Idea and Vodafone.

How they can sustain with this cheap RTP.

This is very cheap and nominal revenue for Uninor (RTP – Rs.1199).

Even BSNL also forced to pay for MTNL; because BSNL don’t have license in Mumbai and Delhi.

TRAI / DoT should fix the termination charges(SMS, Voice, Video, Data) for using other operators network in roaming. which will more helpful for new operators.

For new operators strategy will work only if they have owned towers and it should matched to established operators or merging the new telecom companies is another option.

Otherwise it’s very difficult to run the telecom operation in India.

Minister said that roaming plan should be provide by all telecom operators. It is mandatory for all. So uninor only understand this statement properly. Give roaming at high price as on one can afford that. And policy now followed and situation is still are same. Incoming is chargeable and all tariff and call rates is hiked by all:) good marketing policy. Corrupt india. Jai ho

SUSHANT – its quite simple: charge RIDICULOUS RATES (RS 1199) from a low-end (read UNINOR) customer and he/she will either NOT use Roaming OR will switch over to Rs 5/day – offered by only 3 operators (Airtel, Reliance and Voda)
