In some websites, it shows that this plan is valid for 90 days from 3rd March to 2nd June.

I am using this plan since two months, I get around 9.8 Mbps speed through Samsung Galaxy Grand tethering and its an awesome plan.

Today the plan validity got over, Also the STV recharge is available at portal.bsnl.in

But as per your details, it is to expire today. So, if the plan is valid till 2nd June, I want to apply the STV ASAP.

    Please reply soon..

  • Ayush Gupta May 4, 2014 12:56 am

That’s something great. I wish other states also roll out this plan.

  • Sudhakar March 14, 2014 2:39 am

I have bought Karnataka BSNL SIM through my cousin and using it in Tamilnadu BSNL. Whoaaaaaa. The maximum download speed when downloading a single file (via YTD youtube downloader) is 300 KB/s and upload speed is 106 KB/s !!!. BSNL should launch in all the circles.

Yes man. It is unlimited. I checked the balance (after some usage) also. No deduction.

    • SS March 14, 2014 10:44 am

Good speed! Enjoy! Which modem did you used? 3.6 Mbps, 7.2 Mbps or 21.1 Mbps? I get around 600 KB/ps on a 7.2 Mbps modem on Idea 3G.

    • Darshan March 14, 2014 11:00 am

Even I would do that but here in maharashtra there is different picture morning speed goes upto 4mbps but night it reduces directly to 1 mbps so no use of that pack…

  • Ahmed March 11, 2014 2:53 pm

Does anyone using this plan experiencing disconnection problem every hour… if anybody having solution to this problem please share…
    Thanks… :)

    • js March 16, 2014 8:47 am

It is working without disconnection for me. I am using Lumia for tethering

  • akshay March 10, 2014 12:52 am

yes thats true.and Iam using UNlimited trick. :)

  • Sam March 8, 2014 8:09 pm

  • venkat March 7, 2014 10:25 pm

Guys.. Please help me… I am going to stay in Bangalore for 6 months for my post graduate entrance coaching… Which is the cheapest network in Karnataka for std calling? I am from A.p circle…

    • Chethan S March 7, 2014 11:18 pm

My situation is a little opposite – from Karnataka, living in AP. As most of my friends & relatives use BSNL I can call them at 20 p/min with a special recharge of Rs. 47 every month – local/STD calls to BSNL Mobile/Landline at 20 p/min.

On the other hand, if you use BSNL in AP, you can activate free roaming at around Rs. 90 for 3 months, recharge your parents number (assuming you talk to them max.) for Rs. 65 every month and they can call you at just 10 p/min! This STV allows local BSNL calls at 10 p/min, which means they can call other BSNL AP numbers. So no buying a new SIM card!

Same packs are available in Karnataka.

      • Venkat March 8, 2014 12:26 am

Thx… Just applied your idea to my situation… All of my family members are using Airtel.. So I activate 6 months roaming pack of 196rs on my Airtel number and use it in Karnataka. Will activate 98 pack to my parents number which gives 50talk time and all Airtel calls at 10 PS per min. ( special offer to my father from Airtel)…. Problem solved…

        • Chethan S March 8, 2014 8:56 am

That’s great! Good luck for your studies/stay at Bangalore.

          • Venkat March 8, 2014 3:46 pm

            Thanks chethan sir

  • Saurabh March 7, 2014 2:50 pm

Idea gets 3G spectrum in Punjab circle. :) Now TT can cover the news.

So finally we can expect Idea 3G in Punjab after nearly 4 years of wait. I don’t know whether they will take 2-3 months or more to commercially start it but the hurdle is clear as DoT allotted the 5 MHz frequency to Idea. A good news for Haryana-HP customers also who often roam to Punjab including me.

If Voda takes over Tata, their 3G license will also go to them. So only company that will be left with no 3G will be the No.1 telecom company in Punjab i.e Airtel who should now look to talk to Aircel for their license. :P

    • Rama March 7, 2014 3:53 pm

That’s amazing, but aircel has shown some progress over here in Tamil Nadu.First of all the Airtel 2G issue has been resolved and the 2G internet is working fine.Secondly Aircel had no 3G coverage for my area in TN but just a few days before when I rechecked I got full 3G signal from Aircel in my area.Speeds are moderate at 3-4 mbps but its good to see the positive effect aircel has brought after the tariff hike over here in TN.They have for sure improved 3G coverage atleast in my area.

    • SS March 7, 2014 4:19 pm

When you would go to Punjab, aren’t there any roaming partners of Airtel/Vodafone/Idea? Like Odisha.

      • karandeep singh March 7, 2014 6:59 pm

when will Idea 3g launch in Punjab?

        • SS March 7, 2014 9:09 pm

          See what Saurabh said!

      • Saurabh March 7, 2014 7:19 pm

@SS, As of yet AVoId customers even from roaming areas in Punjab can’t access 3G there as they don’t have tie-up with any of the provider. The other companies that hold license are Aircel, BSNL, Reliance and Tata Docomo and you very well know that AVoId has no partnerships with these anywhere, Out of these 4 available, Tata and Aircel are just there for formality as limited to few cities only and Aircel even after having 3G license in Punjab has only total of 147 2G cell sites and only 67 of these are 3G enabled. Even in big cities Aircel is using Tata 2G/3G cell sites for coverage. So there is no expansion of their network and we very well know the reason that lower tariffs and low customer base resulted in losses due to which they are not getting business to expand further. On the other hand Reliance and BSNL had kept silent on 3G network expansion for years and now both are expanding to areas other than cities i.e towns and villages with good population.

The Punjab telecom market is more of a voice driven then data driven unlike Metro or A category circles where data consumption is more. The adoption rate of mobile Internet is still not good in Punjab but it is showing signs of growth continuously with addition of new first time users every month.

So with the arrival of Idea, Airtel/Vodafone 3G users from other states roaming in Punjab will get the access on Idea network (i.e Inter circle roaming) and also Idea users will get seamless coverage as until now they had to depend on 2G network when they go there. But it will take a year for them to cover 75% of areas. As we all know Idea is the fastest when it comes to expansion of 3G network and same thing will be repeated there too. As far as Airtel/Vodafone customers of Punjab are concerned, they won’t get any 3G as Intra circle roaming is stopped way back. :P So the No.1/No.3 operator i.e Airtel/Vodafone customers has no reason to joy but they can look for option of porting out to Idea which will not be good for these two companies.

        • SS March 7, 2014 9:15 pm

          @Saurabh
But as per my friend in Punjab, Idea/Spice Punjab has really horrible network in Punjab. He ported his Idea number to Vodafone and i activated it in delhi (tele verification). So maybe Punjab people won’t change the operator just for 3G. Really, Punjabis were unlucky with respect to 3G as all the crap operators are providing 3G there.

In delhi, my friend would really be angry when he would see Vodafone delhi 3G network but unable to latch onto it with his Punjab number (Vodafone doesn’t have license there). LOL!

          • Karandeep singh March 7, 2014 9:29 pm

@Saurabh how to know which operator has that number of cell sites?

  • S.Sudhakar March 7, 2014 12:00 pm

I have told my cousin (in Bangalore) to buy karnataka BSNL SIM and send it through my relation who comes to my place (in Tamilnadu) on 09th March. I have 3G coverage of Aircel, airtel, vodafone and BSNL here. Yippeeee. I am going to enjoy the power of unlimited 3G in Tamilnadu !!!.

Yes, The data and SMS packs will be valid in national roaming (even in MTNL network) also.

    • Ramachandran March 9, 2014 7:48 pm

      Will it work for free?
If yes, I will also try.

      Please confirm.

      • SS March 9, 2014 9:12 pm

        Yes, it would

  • SOURABH AGRAWAL March 7, 2014 11:15 am

@aadity – This offer is applicable for all customers, since BSNL Karnataka has enhanced all customer data speed. This is truly unlimited pack with no Speed Cap.
@js – This will not over ride existing data STVs .

    * Disclaimer – I am working for BSNL Karnataka.

    • Ahmed March 8, 2014 7:59 pm

I tried activating this plan by sending DATA389 TO 53733 first reply comes as ” Your request for DATA389 received please wait for confirmation ” then after some time one more MSG comes and it says please check command and try again… I’m trying to activate this plan from last two days still I’m not able to activate I’m having 401 main account balance and I’m from karnataka.

      • Chethan S March 8, 2014 8:16 pm

BSNL Karnataka is aware of the situation and is working towards a resolution. I have confirmed this through a query on twitter: https://twitter.com/bsnl_karnataka/status/442309680488927233. In the meantime, you can consider using a site like Paytm for recharge.

        • Ahmed March 8, 2014 10:32 pm

Thank you very much for your reply I really appreciate it I couldn’t get help even from customer care guys regarding this problem but you helped me thanks a lot… :)

    Chethan,

    • Raghava March 7, 2014 10:45 am

Yes u can combine with other Data STV for 06.00Hrs to 23.59Hrs & Unlimited Data STV for 00.00Hrs to 06.00Hrs

  • ROHAN SINGH March 6, 2014 2:25 pm

PAN India operator and Local Plans :-( They should come with minute based plans too like
    1. 15Rs unlimited for an Hr
    2. 150 Rs unlimited for a week with daily 3hrs-4hrs of unlimited usage
3 350 Monthly unlimited with daily 4-5hrs of usage
At least people can try smaller packs before getting into top amt packs and regretting. In Maharashtra and Kolkata the speeds are very bad we don’t even get 1Mbps. Don’t know when they will upgrade their infrastructure.

    • vasu March 11, 2014 10:13 am

      Rohan,

I agree with your point. But the reason behind this plan is to generate revenue by utilizing the unused resources during the low-usage time, which is quite reasonable and should be welcomed.

  • suhu March 6, 2014 12:58 pm

me n my friends are in(from Kerala) Tamil Nadu, so, many guys did !dea 123 offer, bit on reaching here idea cpverage is very poor and mostly roaming on aircel. however none of them can access Vodafone or airtel 3G. BTW, Vodafone Kerala sim (Kerala only 2g) cant access Vodafone 3g TN? can u help @ss @rama @esmail and others. I must say im really impressed with bsnl, 3g is good both range and speed, getting 4Mbps-6Mbps with 2-3 bars of ramge ..

    • Rama March 6, 2014 1:20 pm

You would first have to activate 3G on your vodafone number by sending a sms ACT 3G on 144 to access 3G as such but I do not know if you can activate 3G on your kerala sim while roaming in TN.Dont go for Idea coverage is pathetic over here in TN.Best for now is to use a BSNL sim.BSNL has modest coverage and qos in TN,kerala and infact most south indian states.

      • suhu March 6, 2014 2:43 pm

@rama thx. but any idea why idea3g not able to access airtel and Vodafone 2g3g networks? they can only roam on AIRCEL but can’t get mobile data . only on idea 2g when there is range..

        • Rama March 6, 2014 3:06 pm

Idea does not have a 3G permit in TN.I probably think Idea does not have any kind of tie-up with either vodafone or airtel over here in TN.Idea is one of the cheapest GSM operator over here in TN so its not suprising that they dont have proper coverage and roaming arrangements. As I have already said better go with BSNL as longs as your in TN,both 2G and 3G work moderately well on BSNL in TN.Anyhow I am just assuming you could ask other guys like Saurabh and Ss or esmail for further info.

          • kannan March 7, 2014 8:40 am

Idea 3g die-uped network in tamilnadu for Vodafone

      • S.Sudhakar March 6, 2014 7:37 pm

Yes man. The Idea’s coverage is worst. But the call tariff is cheap and the coverage is good in town / city limits.

    • SS March 6, 2014 4:33 pm

      @rama
All info provided by you is wrong. See whats wrong.

      @suhu
      1. Vodafone kerela SIM on Vodafone 3G TN network?
Ans. No. Vodafone doesn’t have license in Kerela circle so you would not be able to access any 3G network on roaming or home network (or anywhere in India). Vodafone TN wouldn’t allow you 3G access.

      2. Idea 3G cannot be accessed on roaming.
Ans. Strange! 3G roaming partner would be Vodafone IN as i think. Keep your phone on WCDMA/3G ONLY mode==>Manually search network==>Select Vodafone 3G or Airtel 3G.
If that doesn’t work. Text ACT 3G to 12345

      • suhu March 6, 2014 5:02 pm

@ss and rama thx guys! but the thing is, the only accessible network is AIRCEL and that too only 2g. Tried manual network too (available aircel, Vodafone, BSNL) wen we goto town area, all avoid range is there and AVo 3g but cant access neither 2g nor 3g for AVo. Idea’s 3g customers of Kerala with 3G 1GB offer…
@rama yep, I’m really surprised! idea has very good coverage in Kerala but very expensive but its exactly opposite in tn

      • Rama March 6, 2014 5:03 pm

Thanks bro,I know I am not good at telecom, anyhow thanks for the info, atleast suhu will now have the right info.

  • Sourabh 335 March 6, 2014 12:18 pm

    Bsnl sucks all the field
west bengal 3G just as a name. It has been almost 10 days 3G totally vanished in the northern distric of west begal. wht f**k hell all the engineers r doing. waste of time waste of vaidity.. as the reason 1.5gb gone to vain for expired validity.

I think i have to submit a complain against bsnl to consumer forum.

    • Chandra Sekhar Mandal March 6, 2014 5:27 pm

BSNL has the same worst 3G speed all over WB. In my town too, sometimes 3G is down for few days and when available does not even cross 1Mbps.

  • Chetan Malhotra March 6, 2014 7:54 am

Hahaha, daylight robbery extended in the night. Guys bsnl is only finding ways to get cash, they do not provide speeds in day how will they provide speeds in the night.

Off topic, aircel is again back with problems with 3G in Karnataka. All these so called cheap service provider will not stay for long

  • vijay March 6, 2014 2:43 am

im lucky :)… jai karnataka <3

  • raj March 6, 2014 12:13 am

This strategy will not work.Aircel has tried it from 6am-9am & withdrawn the offer in 3weeks.They simply put 200mb/day restriction after 3weeks.Same will happen now. Moreover no hopes on bsnl.

    • krish March 6, 2014 10:26 am

they will continue that plan for 60 days and see the result. nothing wrong with experimenting ,right??. but I think for rs.400 we can get a decent broadband connection instead of going for this.

  • Akhil Mohan March 5, 2014 10:53 pm

finally some sensible offer in 3g. I wud be very happy if its launched in kerala circle. True unlimited is not good for 3g bcoz download freaks will crash the networks.
Also no news whether any bundled data is there for day usage.

  • SS March 5, 2014 10:00 pm

It really hurts when south people say how 2,3 Mbps they get on BSNL 3G whereas we get no speeds in UP E with rubbish service. But i am damn sure that majority of people wouldn’t be able to use the net at night since BSNL networks would crash due to excessive load.

Hoping the same from Idea Cellular or Vodafone (Dreams sometimes come true)

    • Chandra Sekhar Mandal March 5, 2014 10:17 pm

Here in West Bengal too you would have to be very very lucky to get a decent 3G speed in BSNL.
Even with this night unlimited pack, one can not use more than 500 MB in one night.
Only Airtel & Vodafone give true 3G speed, though their plans are costly but at least you will be satisfied with their service.

      • js March 6, 2014 10:20 am

Here in Karnataka Airtel 3G is worst. Bsnl 3G was best till date. I think this offer may make the network worst during normal hours also. I am not sure why Bsnl wants to try all these stupid things and spoil the best 3G network. I am happy with bsnl till date which gives me a speed from 3Mbps to 10Mbps always.

        • Vijay March 7, 2014 12:44 am

i guess u r in a no mans land … AIRTEL karnataka network is the best compared to other states … Im downloading at a average speed of 1.7MBPS … There is no where in india bsnl offering max 10mbps .. The max speed of bsnl is 4mbps and u ll get around at 600kbps here in karnataka…

          • js March 13, 2014 10:40 am

Ha ha good joke..i am staying in brookefield, Bangalore. Go and check bsnl and Airtel speed you will come to know. Without knowing any details don’t comment on others and the ntw of bsnl is HSDPA+

      • SS March 6, 2014 10:40 am

        +1

    • Liferider shivam March 6, 2014 8:20 am

Really Only Idea and Vodafone are providing real 3g speed in UPeast ‘Hope that they go with same offerings soon.

      Currently I’m using idea 3g. 1gb @ 250[atleast]

    • Saurabh March 6, 2014 9:14 am

      @SS,

As I told before that BSNL 3G started here in my town few weeks ago and I tested it twice until now with 100MB pack. First 3 days it was rocking at 6.5-7Mbps on average though lesser than Idea/Voda who provide 10/14Mbps here on consistent basis but as BSNL has implemented a 7.2 Mbps site with support only to HSDPA, it was almost 90-98% of that. Second time when I used it was 5.6-6.2Mbps which was again good but lower than previous one. I ‘m testing it on different times in a day between morning and night. So I think once the users grow it would come to 4-5Mbps zone but if it goes below 2-3Mbps, it will not be worth for many but for surfers like me, anything over 1 Mbps is good. Still not going for monthly plan yet.

BTW I’m back to Airtel 3G now at 1GB for Rs.247 and 150 TT and didn’t took balance in Aircel this month as their indoor signal in my area has gone down drastically to -87dBm to -93dBm in last 10-12 days which used to be full at -61dBm to -69dBm and not only here the other 4-5 towers operating in town giving same problem as I tested it indoor in my friend’s home who receives signal from another tower. But it was good using Aircel since September last year to slightly over mid-Feb as there was no problem at all and now this signal problem resisted me going for another month. But outdoor where signal is good, speed is still the same at 240-256 Kbps constant (due to fact of being the only user left on Aircel is y town with active SIM). If it gets corrected means it comes back to full indoor coverage as it was before few weeks , I will take the balance again from Punjab/HP. Until then enjoying Airtel 3G. :D
