@R R KUMAR Honest?? May be you are a different case. Reliance is most unethical telecom player. In the name of cheaper tariff, they steal money from customers’ accounts by activating VAS (value added services) from the back end, and earn thousand crores of rupees.

  • R R KUMAR February 24, 2012 8:16 pm

    @DB

India will not be looted by “WHITE, RED & YELLOW THIEVES” – as long as fair players like BSNL, TATA DOCOMO and AIRCEL are around (not including RELIANCE in the list for obvious reasons!!)

    @Saurabh
    @ SAURABH +1
First SENSIBLE POST on TT in a long long time !!

I think it’s a good move by Etisalat and is in their stakeholders interest. First, Dynamix Balwa Group which had no experience of telecommunications took the license and spectrum and sold 45% stake to Etisalat which in one way was not majority stake. Etisalat didn’t had the power to take decision on their own like Uninor. It’s good that SC cancelled their license alongwith others. I think other telcos like Uninor should also consider an exit option and this time Govt should allow those companies which are in one way or other related to telecom. Something good is happening now. It may not be good at present but future of the sector is bright.

What will retailer who will pay demo bal raja or md of cheers

  • varun February 23, 2012 9:23 pm

Disappointed with supreme court judgement. A judgement which will impact many because of dirty politics. Many will loose there jobs, customers will face problems though portability is there and telecom sector will be doomed.I dont know why the court has not taken these factors into consideration.Because of one mans mistake many are going to suffer and this judgement has corroborated well in leaving behind many helpless.
Now Every foreign establishment will think twice while investing in india.A judgement which does more harm than good.

  • Kapil February 23, 2012 8:32 pm

Thanx, a foreign co. exit india. next is the telenor, systema. These co should also leave india maxis, axiata, vodafone plc, docomo,..

  • Vinayak February 23, 2012 8:24 pm

Yea it inevitiable. Its to be happened in case of vediocon also. Videocon even now has not succeeded to build up its brand name in telecom sector. Even its recharge coupon is not so available as in case of aircel. But uninor whatever its name will be in future, it should exsist here to protect the interest of customers. It has won the impression of customers more than even that to aircel in kerala.

  • Harish February 23, 2012 6:01 pm

It’s very sad to listen that their license got cancelled due to Raja’s scam,i Apprecaite Etisalat for it’s Darestep(Good one) to close opertaions in INDIA because if they have repaid the amount then in future if the same is repeated then Supreme court cancell the license then they has to pay the amount bcoz of the Idiotic politics palyed by our Indian govt.

I Hope to stop this type of Politics in the telecom sector please do any thing to stop the effect on mobile call tariff’s on us..

  • s m ashiq February 23, 2012 4:09 pm

Next Videocon, then Uninor will exit, but Telenor will be here.

  • sayan February 23, 2012 3:28 pm

    Raaj :
I think videocon will follow next but its unlikely that Uninor or even MTS will shut down their operations in India. As TT stated earlier,Telenor is asking for some kind of compensation from Unitech and looking for new partner. They might just change the brand name from Uninor to something else but I am damn sure,Telenor is here to exit…

if the sprectum rates will be high, they will not stay.. They cant run services in loss & also they cant increase the tariff, so exit is the best option for them

  • Kevin February 23, 2012 1:13 pm

It will be big “””Cheers””” for Old players.

  • Kaushik Roy February 23, 2012 1:12 pm

Next is Telenor (Uninor) as it already reduced its asset value by booking a loss

  • sai February 23, 2012 12:12 pm

NO effect in A.P bcz it is started beta network in only town i.e; KAVALI they don’t have regular customer int his city.

  • Raaj February 23, 2012 11:07 am

The situation of STel and EDB Grp is slightly different. STel has lost its foriegn investor while Etisalat did not leave the JV. It suggests that this EDB JV may take part in 2G auction. Even STel also expressed their desire to take part in the auction depending upon the T&C and then they will decide the fate of the 3G spectrum they have.

    Kanaga Deepan N :
Next??? Hmmmm…. Tight competition between Videocon and INFINITE Loop….

Loop already clears the fact, they did not launch services commercially in 21 circles and they are ready to return the spectrum they got in 2008. But they will continue in Mumbai as usual.

But abhi intezaar kab Videocon ka number ayega ! :P

No effects of this to Maharashtra circle at least.. There test network was available way one year back in some towns but they never launched there service in Big cities like Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Kolhapur and towns of Thane District too.. So almost nobody is present on their network!!

Videocon & Loop are next as they also not launched their services until yet in Rest of Maharashtra circle..

  • Tharun George February 23, 2012 7:18 am

What will they do with their telecom assets like the network equipment’s and man power?

Why can’t they sell there subscriber + assets to the next company who wins the license. This will avoid huge loss to them.

  • AMKE February 23, 2012 5:57 am

3 days before i got UPC code from cheers but that day when i get UPC code i received a call from Cheers customer care and he said to me don’t port from cheers network. I asked to him about cancellation of license, he told me no problem sir our network will work.

but today i saw a news of TT that they are closing. Its a big joke by cheers.

Before the 2G verdict, Etisalat DB or Cheers Mobile Network was already shut down or goes off-line due to non payment of its dues to Rcom. Etisalat was not serious operator in india since from the launch of its service in india.
