Ericsson Bags Aircel’s 3G Network Contract

AIRCEL, India’s leading mobile operator (part of Maxis Communications, Malaysia), has awarded a contract to Ericsson to rolls out its 3G/HSPA network across six out of its 13 circles or geographic market areas.

The six Aircel circles wherein Ericsson provides 3G technology in are, Tamil Nadu, Bihar -Jharkhand, Orissa, Jammu Kashmir, North East and Assam .These six circles currently serve more than 100 million subscribers and Ericsson will be Aircel’s largest partner for 3G implementation.

Under the agreement with Aircel, Ericsson will provide core, radio and transmission network equipment as well as related services such as network rollout, network technology and consulting, radio network optimization and support services.

The mobile broadband network will include the latest multi-standard radio base station, RBS6000, and the MSC Server Blade Cluster, which will drastically boost the capacity of the network and evolve it into an IP network. The framework contract will be implemented from 2010 to 2012. Deliveries and deployment are underway. Aircel and Ericsson made the first successful 3G call last week in Chennai and Coimbatore .

Gurdeep Singh, COO of Aircel says: “For many people in India connected for the first time, 3G mobile broadband will bring completely new types of services and benefits. We are confident that with this partnership, we will benefit from Ericsson’s global expertise of 3G deployments, and will be able to offer our customers a world-class 3G experience.

Gowton Achaibar, head of Ericsson India , says: “We are extremely excited to partner with Aircel for the implementation of its 3G network. We foresee 3G brings economic advantages and increased social interaction in the country. With the advent of 3G, the mobile phone will not just be about convenience and satisfying a basic need for communication; it will also provide access to services such as healthcare, education and information, supporting people’s livelihoods.”

While Coming to The Coverage Facts
AIRTEL – COVERED 85% OF KARNATAKA, BUT IT’S PROBLEM IS VERY POOR VOICE CLARITY, BALANCE DEDUCTION TO MINUS AND EDGE DISABLED NETWORK IN MOST OF THE DISTRICTS. BUT TRUSTED MOBILE OPERATOR OF KARNATAKA
VODAFONE – BAKWAAS INDOOR COVERAGE, VERY POOR CONNECTIVITY, NO GENUINE INTERNET PACKS, WASTE NETWORK.
IDEA and RELIANCE – HELL BUT COVERED 75% OF KARNATAKA VERY WORST CONNECTIVITY
AIRCEL – COVERED 50% OF KARNATAKA AND COVERING 25% OF KARNATAKA BETTER THAN UNINOR
DOCOMO – COVERED 60% OF KARNATAKA AND IS GOOD GOING
UNINOR,ETISALAT AND VIDEOCON – WORTHLESS SERVICE PROVIDERS
BSNL – BEST THAN AIRTEL AND OTHER OPERATORS

UNINOR IS A WORST SERVICE PROVIDER IN KARNATAKA I’VE LIVE EXAMPLE WITH ME I’M HAVING 4 ACTIVE CONNECTIONS I.E. Aircel, AirTel, BSNL and UNINOR. Yesterday i Went To Kanakapura From Bangalore to my Surprising Uninor is Having Zero Connectivity at Thathaguni Estate Where Other 3 are having Good Signals if Uninor Won’t Improves Network Surely They Will Lose a Mass Of Customers

AirTel,Aircel and Reliance Covered 75-80% of J & K and Have all Rights to Roll out Their 3G Service in This State. But Funniest Thing is IDEA Taken 3G License for J and K Which is Having Worst Network Of 2G in This state. How Can they implement 3G Without improving 2G?

Trust me on this…. Aircel is the undisputed market leader when it comes to Tamil Nadu. Airtel and BSNL are far behind. Coverage and network wise Aircel has come a long way. I first used Aircel when there where no other operators around in TN. Even network quality is very good

Ya dude coverage is good in highways u say if u travel for 400kms then u ll get Aircel signal for almost 350kms. Voice clarity is good provided u have atleast 3signal bars. Its not like uninor where u can speak clearly even with 1 bar

    This post is pretty confusing….

said Aircel has 13 3G bagged telecom circles… and awarded their coverage to ericsson…

But next line says “The six Aircel circles wherein Ericsson provides 3G technology in are, Tamil Nadu, Bihar -Jharkhand, Orissa, Jammu Kashmir, North East and Assam .These six circles currently serve more than 100 million subscribers.

    Please make it clear….
