AIRCEL, India’s leading mobile operator (part of Maxis Communications, Malaysia), has awarded a contract to Ericsson to rolls out its 3G/HSPA network across six out of its 13 circles or geographic market areas.
The six Aircel circles wherein Ericsson provides 3G technology in are, Tamil Nadu, Bihar -Jharkhand, Orissa, Jammu Kashmir, North East and Assam .These six circles currently serve more than 100 million subscribers and Ericsson will be Aircel’s largest partner for 3G implementation.
Under the agreement with Aircel, Ericsson will provide core, radio and transmission network equipment as well as related services such as network rollout, network technology and consulting, radio network optimization and support services.
The mobile broadband network will include the latest multi-standard radio base station, RBS6000, and the MSC Server Blade Cluster, which will drastically boost the capacity of the network and evolve it into an IP network. The framework contract will be implemented from 2010 to 2012. Deliveries and deployment are underway. Aircel and Ericsson made the first successful 3G call last week in Chennai and Coimbatore .
Gurdeep Singh, COO of Aircel says: “For many people in India connected for the first time, 3G mobile broadband will bring completely new types of services and benefits. We are confident that with this partnership, we will benefit from Ericsson’s global expertise of 3G deployments, and will be able to offer our customers a world-class 3G experience.
Gowton Achaibar, head of Ericsson India , says: “We are extremely excited to partner with Aircel for the implementation of its 3G network. We foresee 3G brings economic advantages and increased social interaction in the country. With the advent of 3G, the mobile phone will not just be about convenience and satisfying a basic need for communication; it will also provide access to services such as healthcare, education and information, supporting people’s livelihoods.”

While Coming to The Coverage Facts
AIRTEL – COVERED 85% OF KARNATAKA, BUT IT’S PROBLEM IS VERY POOR VOICE CLARITY, BALANCE DEDUCTION TO MINUS AND EDGE DISABLED NETWORK IN MOST OF THE DISTRICTS. BUT TRUSTED MOBILE OPERATOR OF KARNATAKA
VODAFONE – BAKWAAS INDOOR COVERAGE, VERY POOR CONNECTIVITY, NO GENUINE INTERNET PACKS, WASTE NETWORK.
IDEA and RELIANCE – HELL BUT COVERED 75% OF KARNATAKA VERY WORST CONNECTIVITY
AIRCEL – COVERED 50% OF KARNATAKA AND COVERING 25% OF KARNATAKA BETTER THAN UNINOR
DOCOMO – COVERED 60% OF KARNATAKA AND IS GOOD GOING
UNINOR,ETISALAT AND VIDEOCON – WORTHLESS SERVICE PROVIDERS
BSNL – BEST THAN AIRTEL AND OTHER OPERATORS
Arjun. November 17, 2010 at 9:27 am
UNINOR IS A WORST SERVICE PROVIDER IN KARNATAKA I’VE LIVE EXAMPLE WITH ME I’M HAVING 4 ACTIVE CONNECTIONS I.E. Aircel, AirTel, BSNL and UNINOR. Yesterday i Went To Kanakapura From Bangalore to my Surprising Uninor is Having Zero Connectivity at Thathaguni Estate Where Other 3 are having Good Signals if Uninor Won’t Improves Network Surely They Will Lose a Mass Of Customers
Arjun. November 17, 2010 at 8:18 am
AirTel,Aircel and Reliance Covered 75-80% of J & K and Have all Rights to Roll out Their 3G Service in This State. But Funniest Thing is IDEA Taken 3G License for J and K Which is Having Worst Network Of 2G in This state. How Can they implement 3G Without improving 2G?
TUFAN CHATTERJEE November 16, 2010 at 11:58 pm
Bharti Airtel will officially launch 3G services before the end of this week.
Benny November 16, 2010 at 10:50 pm
I’m just waiting for Aircel to start 3G in Tamil Nadu. Remember they also have 4G license in Tamil Nadu. People of TN are in for some nice offers, if not now at least a year or two down the line

Keshav Jha November 16, 2010 at 11:56 am
It means Aircel will take another 3-4 months to start 3G in these 6 circles?
ARJUN November 16, 2010 at 9:58 am
AIRCEL IS ONLY CONCENTRATING ONLY IN SOUTH INDIA,NORTH EAST PROVINCES(WB,ORISSA,BIHAR,ASSAM,UP,NE), J and K, and PUNJAB CIRCLES ONLY
AKS November 16, 2010 at 7:57 am
Now-a-days i m also getting gud gprs speed…thanks to aircel for improving their network.
ARJUN November 16, 2010 at 7:54 am
@Amit.G
If we observed Aircel and Other Operators BTS . Other Operators BTS is 30 – 40 M Height and Aircel’s New BTS Height is 60 – 70 M Height That’s Why Their Coverage is Very good
ARJUN November 16, 2010 at 7:16 am
@Amit.G
Can We Get Aircel Signals While We Travel from Bangalore to Hubli
Anirban Mukherjee November 16, 2010 at 12:21 am
chinese are always cheap both in price and reliability. ZTE and HUAWEI both are chinese brand and cant be compared with like Ericsson or NSN(nokia-siemens-network). they are just nothing but cheap.
RAHUL RANJAN November 16, 2010 at 12:08 am
CUSTOMER CARE SAYS 40KBPS SPEED IN GPRS BUT IT NOT TRUE THERE IS ABOUT 5 TO 10KBPS SPEED VERY BAD,,,.
Benny November 15, 2010 at 11:36 pm
Trust me on this…. Aircel is the undisputed market leader when it comes to Tamil Nadu. Airtel and BSNL are far behind. Coverage and network wise Aircel has come a long way. I first used Aircel when there where no other operators around in TN. Even network quality is very good
Raghu November 15, 2010 at 11:35 pm
@TD
nice news that. hope they will improve in our area also soon.
Raghu November 15, 2010 at 11:34 pm

aircel is also improving the network at rapid pace .good news.
TD November 15, 2010 at 11:20 pm
aircel launched in west bengal probably in 2006…. aircel bts is maximum 1km distance from my house…but till now i got only 1 network bar in my phone, reported 100 times in customer care, nothing improvements…. but surprisingly from 2 weeks ago, i am getting full signal in my room, my friends are also getting good signal strength in their room ….. surely they improving their network after 5 long years!!!!
Amit.G November 15, 2010 at 10:56 pm
@Raghu
Ya dude coverage is good in highways u say if u travel for 400kms then u ll get Aircel signal for almost 350kms. Voice clarity is good provided u have atleast 3signal bars. Its not like uninor where u can speak clearly even with 1 bar
Raghu November 15, 2010 at 10:41 pm
@Amit.g
great to hear after a long time aircel have improved the coverage. how is the coverage/network/voice clarity in Highways
rohan November 15, 2010 at 9:52 pm
Ericsson is the world leader in telecom equipment. Don’t forget it was ericsson who discovered bluetooth. And it’s a sweden company. So aircel will have better 3G netwk in theese 6 circle.
Fad November 15, 2010 at 9:24 pm

ARJUN November 15, 2010 at 7:06 pm
Then Aircel Will Be One Who Uses Ericsson and Huawei Equipments
Amit.g November 15, 2010 at 7:02 pm

May be huawei i guess
kanna November 15, 2010 at 6:49 pm
@Amit.g
Oh then the 3G live Network architecture from Which company ?
anubhav11 November 15, 2010 at 6:46 pm
@Sri Krishna
i think is a written mistake as it should be 2g instead of 3g
Ajay Rao November 15, 2010 at 6:45 pm
r u from chinese vendors ???????
sathish November 15, 2010 at 6:45 pm
Remaining 7 Circles may goes to Nokia Siemens Network or It may goes to Chinese Network.
jdjain November 15, 2010 at 6:42 pm
chiness are not third class vendor, they are best ,
how the hell u think they are third , even , Ericsson base station are made in china
Amit.g November 15, 2010 at 6:34 pm
@Sri Krishna
Tat means aircel will deploy 3g in those 6circles from now on. in remaining circles we can already see 3g signal going live
Anirban Mukherjee November 15, 2010 at 6:25 pm
surely they will give others 6 circles’ contract to any 3rd class chinese vendor.
kanna November 15, 2010 at 6:06 pm
“The framework contract will be implemented from 2010 to 2012 ”
Means Aircel is not going to provide 3G in those 6 circles until that period ?
We are extremely excited to partner with Aircel for the implementation of its 3G network?
kanna November 15, 2010 at 6:03 pm
What about the remaining 7 circles ? which company is handling the network architecture?
only 6 are covered out of 13 circles by ericsson?
Sri Krishna November 15, 2010 at 5:59 pm
This post is pretty confusing….
said Aircel has 13 3G bagged telecom circles… and awarded their coverage to ericsson…
But next line says “The six Aircel circles wherein Ericsson provides 3G technology in are, Tamil Nadu, Bihar -Jharkhand, Orissa, Jammu Kashmir, North East and Assam .These six circles currently serve more than 100 million subscribers.
”
Please make it clear….
