DataWind the company responsible for the Aakash Tablets has recently launched two ultra affordable Android smartphones. The 2G4 and 3G4 cost Rs 1,999 and Rs 2,999 respectively and the fact that they come with an entire year of free Rcom internet access makes the deal sweeter.

DataWind has tied up with Rcom to offer not only free unlimited web browsing for an entire year but also unlimited email usage and access to social networks.

The 2G4 phone is the cheapest of the lot and features a 3.5-inch display and is powered by a single-core 1.0GHz Cortex A7 processor. The device sports a VGA camera at the back and features usual connectivity options including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The only downside is the fact that the phone still runs on the dated Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

The 3G4 sports a much larger 4-inch display and runs on the relatively new Android KitKat 4.4.2. It is powered by the same 1.0GHz Cortex A7 processor. It comes with a 5-megapixel primary camera and a VGA secondary camera.

The 5-inch Pocket surfer called the 3G5 has also been upgraded and it now features a 3-megapixel camera on the back tagged with an LED flash and a VGA secondary camera.

The new Datawind phones will be sold through Naaptol and other traditional retail outlets including Spice Hotspot and Sangeetha Mobiles.
