I am using the postpaid GSM servcies from Reliance Communications from the time when they launched their services in Mumbai telecom circle. Approximately close to a year back. From day 1 the company offers GPRS/EDGE services over postpaid connections. But in Reliance things are not so simple for the GPRS access.
Reliance offers two types of Internet services on their Post Paid GSM cards. First is Full GPRS/EDGE services through Reliance Netconnect Platform & the second is Reliance Mobile Internet which is technically more advance version of WAP services.
The Reliance Netconnect is basically accessed through the APN called RCOMNET. Its charged as per minute based plan rather than the usage based. The charges are 60 paise/minute in Peak hours & 30 paise/minute in Off Peak hours. Its a full fledged Internet service & its a TCP/IP connection. We can connect our phones to PC or Laptop to enjoy the Wireless Internet on the move. Also it does not feature any proxies. The speed I get in this plan is generally varies from 180 Kbps to 260 Kbps in Mumbai as well as in Pune. The biggest drawback of this plan is the COST STRUCTURE. Read more…
I took a connection on 12-10-09. I was really skeptic about their claim since i have never read a good review of PSU telecom products well, to my surprise the sim got activated within minutes.
I needed to submit ID/Address proof, PAN card copy and Rs149 and the new 3G SIM (they offered me a choice of numbers!!) was in my hand at that moment and very next it was in my NOKIA E 71.It had free bundled up 25 MB data plus 20 minutes video call to MTNL network.
FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH SPEED: speed was amazing, though I wanted to check the speed on mobile; i had no idea of any tool where I could check the speed test on mobile itself then i decided to connect it to mobile.
I called up customer care for help, the executive gave me a detail which I could not comprehend and obviously not working. It was an 18 steps detailed description which i first noted down on paper and tried to create a dialer, and never succeed. Finally I took a cue from my past experience with aircel gprs connectivity to laptop. Read more…

Name : Altaf Malik
Currently using : Tata Docomo
Location : Mumbai
Altaf Malik opted Tata DoCoMo for the sake of 1 sec pluse. Altaf is satisfied with the service being provided to him by Tata Docomo but what frustrates him the most is the network problem at his residence in Mumbai and as well as in Kalyan (W).
Initially a user of Reliance GSM, he has shifted to DoCoMo because of the per second pulse and thought that since it is from the house of TATA the service would be free from problems just as TATA CDMA is, where network is not an issue.
But Altaf quotes the network problem is bugging him and also add the network sometimes drops to just 1 bar and then again to 3 bars signal strength. Network is not at all stable so just in case some person from DOCOMO is reading this, please take a note of it .
Positives: per second pulse, promotional SMS offer, free MCA
Negatives : Network coverage is not proper, customer care executive are so busy even after waiting in queue for more than 16 minutes the call at Customer Care is not answered.
Network: Average
Overall and rating out of 5: overall service is average and rating 2.5 out of 5
