Exclusive: Maharashtra will get BSNL 3G from 11th June

After a long delay finally Maharashtra and Goa circle will get the next generation BSNL 3G Mobile and Data services from 11th June.

The Pan-India 3G operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is going to make its 3G debut in the Pune, Goa, and 55 other cities in Maharashtra and Goa telecom circle from June 11th.

Maharshtra’s cultural capital city of Pune will be the first city to witness the launch of the 3G mobile service by BSNL on 11th June while Panjim and Goa will get commercial 3G services from 24 June.

Apart from this BSNL will also enhance the services area to all the district headquarters of the Maharashtra and Goa circle along with 55 major cities by the end of July-2010. Read more…

MTNL Upgrades 2G Customers To Gen NEXT!

In an attempt to provide greater benefits to the GSM mobile service users, India’s first 3G mobile service operator Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) announced the launch of Free 3G Up-gradation for its 2G GSM Dolphin & Trump subscribers in Mumbai telecom circle.

Under the MTNL Mumbai ’s Free 3G Up-gradation Offer, its Postpaid and Prepaid (Dolphin/Trump) 2G subscriber will be automatically up-graded into next generation 3G services at free of cost.

After conversion of all 2G customers to 3G, the customers using 3G handsets will be able to make video calls in 3G coverage area. In addition to the above 3G facilities, if a customer wish to avail data services (3.5G Internet browsing and download), they can send ACT 3G by SMS to 555 or 444 for Dolphin and Trump customers respectively.The data services will be charged as per the default tariff or data plans subscribed by the customer. BSNL Ties Up With Indian Railways to Promote 3G Services

In a bid to promote the 3G mobile and data services, India’s National telecom backbone and pan India 3G operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has partnered with the Indian Railways.

As part of the tie-up, the New Delhi-Chennai Rajdhani Express will boast BSNL 3G logos and advertisements as a promotional vehicle. The 1st Rajdhani train was flagged off by Mr. Kuldeep Goel, Chairman and Managing Director of BSNL from New Delhi. The six-month campaign is expected to cover 34 locations across 11 States in India.

With the unique marketing initiative, all coaches of the New Delhi-Chennai Rajdhani Express were covered with vinyl sheets carrying advertisements of BSNL 3G services. Read more…

BSNL Offers Local and STD Video Calls Just At 30p

In a bid to promote 3G Mobile services, India’s National telecom backbone and Pan-India 3G mobile service operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today announced the promotional reduction in Video Call charges for its Postpaid and Prepaid 3G subscribers in all telecom circles.

With the massive reduction in Video Call charges, Now BSNL 3G subscriber can enjoy the next generation Local and STD video calling just at 30 paisa per minute. The above promotional tariff will be available for 90 days with effect from 1st June, 2010.

BSNL is the only service providers to have 3G spectrum across all the telecom circles.Recently the state operator crosses One Million 3G GSM Mobile and Data service subscriber mark and offers it next generation 3G services in more than 434 cities across India.

BSNL To Launch 3G Mobile Services in Ahmedabad by June

India’s National telecom backbone and Pan-India 3G mobile service operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today announced that it will launch much awaited 3G mobile and data services in Gujarat telecom circle by June.

Mr. Satya Pal, Chief General Manager (CGMT), BSNL Gujarat Telecom Circle said “We will start the commercial 3G Mobile Services including, Live TV, Video on Demand (VoD), Movie downloads via BSNL Live services and video calling facility on BSNL mobile phones initially in Ahmedabad city with in a month.

Presently the core UMTS/3G network is live in various parts of Ahmedabad City including Kalupura Railway station area. The existing BSNL or MTNL 3G subscribers from other telecom circle can access BSNL 3G services by selecting UMTS network while roaming in Gujarat telecom circle. Read more…

GSM Operators Approaching BSNL for Pan-India 3G Roaming

At the closer of the India’s 3G auctions, most of bidders including the biggies Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Reliance Communications(Rcom), Aircel and Tata Teleservices (TTSL-Tata Docomo) emerging 3G airwaves winners for limited telecom circles.

No single bidder bid for a pan-India 3G license so state operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) would be remain the biggest 3G operator in India. The absence of any pan-India 3G licence winner amongst all private operators, brings the good news for state-run telecom opertors BSNL and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL). Almost all the private operator needs the 3G Roaming agreement with BSNL or any other operator in the services area or circles where they themselves failed to win 3G spectrum.

Tata Teleservices (TTSL) which has bagged 3G spectrum only in nine circles  already said that “To enable our subscribers get seamless 3G connectivity in other circles, we are in talks with state operator BSNL and MTNL for a 3G roaming agreement.” Read more…

3G Auction Some After TalksLong waited India’s 1st 3G spectrum auction is over! Starting on 9 April it took 34 days. Govt-owned BSNL and MTNL are already offering 3G services over country. Now private operators also get licenses to offer high speed 3G services.

Indian Government earned Rs 67,700 crore, double than they expected to get by selling 3G airwaves.Most important thing not a single operator did win pan-India 3G license, which may lead to network sharing over circles to circles.

But it is uncertain that dual technology operator Reliance and Tata will join such sharing or not.Airtel & Vodafone mostly come to as partner, and Idea may join them via their joint venture of tower sharing i.e. Indus Towers.

But even of this partnership between three operators can’t cover all circles with 3G connectivity – the trio will miss Orissa.Airtel’s wining of 3G license is quite unimpressive, they won license in Read more…
