BSNL has decided to relaunch its bundled data card with annual data plans from 20th of this month with an upgrade. In the earlier offer which was valid from August 2013 (read BSNL Offers FREE 3G Data Card on Purchase of Yearly 3G Data Plan) a 3.6 Mbps 3G data card was on offer. Now it will be 7.2 Mbps and 14.4 Mbps at slightly higher prices.

What's the Offer?BSNL_Data_Card_Offer3G

The offer will be available from 20 January 2014 till 90 days or till stocks last whichever is earlier. It must also be noted that the data plan voucher is implemented differently in BSNL West Zone. While customers of other zones are not allowed to carry forward unused data, West Zone customers are at luck -

  1. DPV-3299 - 30 GB (instead of 2.5GB / month) data free with validity 12 months
  2. DPV-2299 - 18 GB (instead of 1.5GB / month) data free with validity 12 months
  3. DPV-1251 - 9 GB (instead of 0.75 GB / month) data free with validity 12 months

Should you Consider?

If you are opting for DPV-1251, you may be better off buying a 3G data card (particularly the 14.4 Mbps variant) from the open market. For instance the D-Link 14.4 Mbps modem with three years warranty would come at ~Rs. 1300 at online retailers, a flat saving of Rs. 200. Plan wise choice depends on your budget and usage requirements.
