BSNL Ties Up With Indian Railways to Promote 3G Services

In a bid to promote the 3G mobile and data services, India’s National telecom backbone and pan India 3G operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has partnered with the Indian Railways.

As part of the tie-up, the New Delhi-Chennai Rajdhani Express will boast BSNL 3G logos and advertisements as a promotional vehicle. The 1st Rajdhani train was flagged off by Mr. Kuldeep Goel, Chairman and Managing Director of BSNL from New Delhi. The six-month campaign is expected to cover 34 locations across 11 States in India.

With the unique marketing initiative, all coaches of the New Delhi-Chennai Rajdhani Express were covered with vinyl sheets carrying advertisements of BSNL 3G services. A total of 25,000 sq. ft promotional material was stuck on the train. The operator also used the space available on 200 table tops and 400 Brochure Holders inside the compartments of train, along with audio jingles, announcements, contest and activation by in-train promoters which would create a great impact and engaging communication to promote the BSNL 3G services. BSNL will also conduct live demonstration of Video Callings and 3G Data/Internet Speed for passengers at selected railway stations.

State operator BSNL recently wrapped more than 440 cities with its 3G mobile and HSPA 3.75G Broadband Data service Network in various telecom circles covering the district headquarters and major towns across India.

Speaking on the new marketing initiative for 3G services, Mr. Kuldeep Goyal, CMD, BSNL, said “This is the first time we are doing this. We plan to cover one more train, as this promotes our 3G services. BSNL aims at more than four million 3G subscribers by the end of the fiscal from the current 1.25 million”

Really great marketing initiatives by BSNL first time, it will give practical experience of 3G connectivity to the customers. Also it can create a big buzz in tier II cities and rural areas.

If BSNL can provide option to use 3G service without any change in existing plan, it would attract more and more peoples into 3G. Any way, happy to see some working brains in the top of BSNL and hoping these would lasts long…

The only way for BSNL to sustain tariff war of 2G is to provide quality 3G services, that too with a faster pace to grab more subscribers. This is one of the good moves for faster acquisition…

Great aim from CMD Mr. Kuldeep Goyal. Its not a big aim if they launch 3G services in Goa & MH circle they will grab it very easily till Sept 10. Goa state radiated total 90sites of 3G & they are still working on it, they will be reach upto 135cellsite to cover small Goa state, wait & watch Goa 3G services will be the best among the country. BSNL Mobile team planned to cover each & every corner with 3G network. BSNL employees also interested to reach 3G network in their home, colleges, halls & hotels also, finally BSNL Entire team working very hard to complete the target of 3G cellsites in next 2 months Great Team work by Goa GSM team.

    TURKEE :

Marketing in Trains is a old concept, but this is unique coz the train selected is Rajdhani which will move inter state. Live demo should have been made available inside the train instead of selected stations. Customers should have been given special offers like free sim if they are interested to purchase. Close sale on spot. More marketing activities expected from BSNL….in terms of cool ad’s of Deepika, massive hoarding campaigns etc. Lets wait & watch.

They already started that along with audio jingles, announcements, contest with Free gifts and sim card activation in-train.

BSNL also plans another Rajdhani Train Delhi-Chennai, Delhi-Bangalore, Delhi-Trivandrum and Delhi-Sealdah for the same.

BSNL should invest in 3G network expansion rather than advertisement. If you don’t have wide continuous network, you can’t increase customer. In east India 3G is pathetic. Some limited area of some town is covered by 3G.

Good marketing strategy by a govt company.. Giving live demo in stations is good one it can also be given in trains by installing LCD’s & in tat showing abt the working of 3G & data transfer speed, tarrifs, places covered, uses etc..

” i know now everybody will comment on this saying THIS IS INDIA but its just an idea ” :-)

Marketing in trains are expected and it is old strategy. but what is expected is to have the Broadband and 3G services while moving inside train because the infrastructure of railways is too good. And im sure only BSNL can give such facility.

3G Marketing themes for Private Operators
City Taxi’s theme will be ‘I drive with 3G, what about you’
Local Trains ‘I travel with 3G, what about you’
Airlines ‘I fly with 3G, what about you’
    Etc etc…..Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!
