  • rushikesh August 12, 2013 2:17 pm

i have combo plan of 525rs. It says that it’s unlimited with more than 512kBps. My questions are:
    1) the rumor about kBps i.e 256/8=40-45kbps. i hve seen many posts regarding this, is that true???
    2) Still if v consider the above corruptness of bsnl, is it also true that my plan speed will reduce after 8/10 GB???
I leave in rural area, Nandurbar dist.
    Plzzz answer ths

    • Piyush001 August 23, 2013 4:30 pm

yeah man it’s true as my plan is of 2mbps i.e 2048/8 = 256 kbps so i receive such speed in download regularly untill 8 GB :D

  • Ravikumar Balakrishnan February 23, 2013 9:23 am

When compared to technology development the BSNL service is far behind. I am using broadband till 2007. There is no significant improvement. The BSNL represents a democracy with more than 100cr. people. but its service is not that much of our expectation.I think BSNL can give unlimited broadband service in 8mbps speed for Rs. 250. the BSNL is our investment (Tax)it must think about that. They are behind the private players. The reliance one offered two mobile phone connection for Rs. 500 and unlimited talk time.

  • vishal November 8, 2012 10:18 pm

  • Syed Arif October 18, 2012 9:46 pm

  • Prashant October 11, 2012 9:35 pm

Data usage is unlimited but speed restricts after u cross 4 gb downloading!!@nishant

  • Nikhileshwar September 22, 2012 11:24 am

BSNL is also giving Promotional offer for UNLIMITED 3G DATA in Post paid plan Rs 700/Month with Free 3.6 Mbps Data card.

  • Vineeth Raj September 22, 2012 11:09 am

Though the BSNL company had made attractive offers, I would like to mention that the speeds aren’t as given in the plans. For the first 8 GB, I got speeds upto only 512 kBps and after 8 GB, I got speeds not exceeding 150 kBps, that too on an Type 2 ADSL Modem. So, if this was looked at, maybe I would recommend BSNL.

  • Saurabhskater June 6, 2012 2:49 pm

when will all these plan upgrades take effect ? because i have that BB home combo 625 ul plan and still get 256 Kbps (internet dint work for the whole of this month and started working yesterday so i couldnt have exceeded the 4 gb mark )

  • jka March 6, 2012 12:29 am

bsnl should be more innovative. and they need to think about speed & limit…… ex. acttv give 10 mb speed till 50gb than speed reduce to 2mb . and with a price tag of 1250 only.

  • krishnendu March 4, 2012 2:07 am

    samik :
yes the speed increased. but 4gb only

dont understand their policy!thy provide 750pm true unlimited in evdo& in bb they are using these speed cappings!now-a-days wat cn u do with a 256kbps conection!!

  • dr p.n.pandey March 1, 2012 4:41 pm

  • Guru January 31, 2012 4:18 pm

When comparing MTNL Package, BSNL Bandwidth is very very low………MTNL changing to 512 kbps min……for 599 plan itself they are giving 2 mbps with FUP of 6 GB

  • dskushwaha January 31, 2012 2:26 pm

    blazzer :
FUP is too low.. not much for even occasion downloaders! I think BSNL will be in big trouble in the near future…

I don’t see any problem with FUP in above plans. I download 15-20 GB per month in ULD 900 plan and it is sufficient for me.

By the way, which plan you are using?

Any ways for your information, we publish that news on July 9th, 2011 (NOT TODAY !) and BSNL was the first Mobile/Telecom service provider launch its services at Batal-Losar-Kaza in the high-altitude “No-Man’s Land” in Lahul-Spiti in the state In of Himachal Pradesh.

  • Max January 25, 2012 4:15 pm

    @dskushwaha

I have a laptop with a dead batt. connected only for downloads (desidhamal, h33t, 1337). By downloads i mean 24/7 365days. I have a 6×1 TB NAS for movies / songs connected to a > media device to > TV & Music system

    I have BB Home Combo UL 750 ~ 512kbps(Kilobits) ~ 62.5 KiloBytes/sec ~ 3.6 Megabytes /min ~ 5.1 GB / Day(24hr) ~ 154 GB /Month(30day)

Approx. 150 GB /Month(30day) @ Rs. 750 + TAX ~ Rs. 827 (correct way to capture what you pay for)

Plus/Minus 4GB or 8GB @ this/that speed does not make sense to me… correct me if I am wrong !!

How 6 Mbps is possible? BSNL gives 4 Mbps only.

look at this, its ghaziabad with 900 plan
    speedtest.net/result/1718548435.png

OK! the speed show 3.04 mbps that is OK with 4 mbps connection but Chinmoy’s speed of 6 mbps is not digestible.

Yes, it is true I am also getting speed around 6 Mbps (Plan combo ULD 900). just check my test result
    http://www.speedtest.net/result/1719078680.png

The link of speedtest.net you posted shows 6.59 Mbps. So it is even more than you say (6 Mbps). So the speed offered by BSNL should be even more (say 8 Mbps) because speedtest.net results shows speed between you and speedtest.net server (New Delhi in your case). So why BSNL website is still showing 4 Mbps? Is BSNL testing the high speed in your area?? In my area speed never exceeds 1.9 Mbps when tested on speedtest.net (Actual speed never exceeds 2.3 Mbps as seen on Networks utility) Anybody from other areas using ULD 900 please share your speed.

  • dskushwaha January 20, 2012 6:59 pm

    To dskushwaha :
    > BSNL LL to BSNL LL and other company LL in India – 180 seconds per pulse. >
    > BSNL LL to BSNL mobile within the state – 120 seconds per pulse.>
    > BSNL LL to other mobile in India (within the state and the STD) – 60 seconds per pulse.>
So you can easily calculate. If you cannot do that, you are unfit for using landline.

Thanks for the info. Actually the problem is not with my calculation but seems to be with BSNL (I talked to BSNL CC on 198 after reading your post). My detailed bill shows I have been charged Rs. 1 for all calls (of 1 min pulse) including Local BSNL LL calls.

plan UL625, speed? bsnl plans are good but only thing is the link goes missing at regular intervals and the speed is reduced in wi-fi mode

How 6 Mbps is possible? BSNL gives 4 Mbps only.

look at this, its ghaziabad with 900 plan

OK! the speed show 3.04 mbps that is OK with 4 mbps connection but Chinmoy’s speed of 6 mbps is not digestible.

    > BSNL LL to BSNL mobile within the state – 120 seconds per pulse.>

    > BSNL LL to other mobile in India (within the state and the STD) – 60 seconds per pulse.>

So you can easily calculate. If you cannot do that, you are unfit for using landline.

Yes, I think speed improvement will make customers to opt for and stick with BSNL broadband only, still BSNL is much cheaper than pvt operators who avail their services even in remote areas where pvt operators never interested to deliver such services.Speed imporvement @ same cost will surely bring smile on the BSNL broadband users.

    Hey dskushwaha :
Look at the ULD 900 and ULD 850 plans. Just for Rs.50, you are getting 4 times the speed (with FUP).
Rs.850 plan has 350 free calls. So the actual amount payable for broadband is only Rs.500.
Rs.900 plan has 400 free calls. In this also the actual amount payable for broadband is Rs.500 again.
So ULD 900 plan is much more better. Do not blindly criticize the plans without analyzing them deeply.

I would have preferred a similar plan to BB Home Combo ULD 900 if it was available without any free calls at some Rs. 850 or lower. Because the calls rates are too much expensive (Rs. 1.103/min including taxes)and using Landline for call is cumbersome in the age of mobile. Using the free calls often increases my bills because there is no record of usage for the current month (this happens with all postpaid connections). Just for the greed of 500 free calls I often pay Rs. 200 or more, which would have given me 1000×60 STD seconds on my mobile.
My Modem always shows Line Rate – Upstream (Kbps): 839 & Line Rate – Downstream (Kbps): 1999 so download speed is not 4 mbps as per the plan.

Yeah Most of the Broadband subscribers are from 750 UL Combo plan.

How much you people download with BB Home UL 750 or BB Home Combo UL 750
PS: just asking for the experience. I am presently on BB Home Combo ULD 900

I use torrent for downloading movies… I haven’t anytime kept tab on usage… but downloading 1movie@700MB ~ 1.82GB … its really a lot of data

I usually download more than 15 GB per month (sometimes more than 25 GB) on BB Home Combo ULD 900 by postponing my big downloads to month end. This gives me high speed for full month i.e. 4 mbps. I rarely use the reduced speed even I exceed the FUP limit i.e 8GB by postponing the big downloads to month end . I keep a tab on data usage using “Netwoks”, a small but usefull tool.

  • Sudhakar January 19, 2012 10:10 pm

    Kavin and all users :

Make your points clear. Tikona has worst upload speed at 25% bandwidth subject to a maximum of only 512 Kbps. But BSNL provides 768 Kbps upload speed in all plans of 1 Mbps and above.

Tikona’s speed after FUP (increasing contention ratio upto 1:100 for home users is highly condemnable as users do not know how much speed they will get after FUP. This is another way of looting the customers’ money.

DO NOT JUST SEE THE BROADBAND PLANS OF ALL THE OPERATORS (like tikona etc) AND BOAST OFF COMPARING WITH BSNL. ‘READ THE CONDITIONS’ OF ALL THE OPERATORS FIRST. OK?.

  • Sayantan January 19, 2012 10:05 pm

  • kavin January 19, 2012 9:55 pm

we want for 850 rs. 8mbps till 85 gb then 1 mbps unlimited…
these are useless plan.. waiting for trai to fix minimum 1 mbps as broadband status…
mmmm.. 4g tikiona is good option..bsnl will go like aircel.. with huge customer base but zero income..
one of my friend used aircel for a reason that never outgoing call gets connected for minimum try of 4/5 times..so he never looses balance..
bsnl even 10 kbps cost 100 rs., network hardly gets connected.. so u will not lose money..

if BBG 299 combo gives 512 kbps then y shd any1 chose rest of the plans [except the 850, 900 plans], whats the need of continuing with 750 plan? bakwas BSNL …….

BBG COMBO 299 will give you 512 kbps speed with 1GB data, beyond 1GB you will have to pay Rs. 0.20/- per MB for usage upto 5 GB ; Rs. 0.10/- per MB thereafter. Whereas BB Home UL 750 and BB Home Combo UL 750 are unlimited plans without any FUP.
Now BB Home Combo ULD 900 is simply a waste of money, BBG Combo ULD 850 looks better.
But I wish BSNL should have given more data at the same high speed instead of giving more speed with same data. And in Night Unlimited plans day usage should have been increased.

There isn’t anything that BB 299 has 1GB limit.

You may visit BSNL website bsnl.co.in/service/new_BB/BB_COMBO_lim.htm for confirmation it is there!!!

Moreover BSNL braodband have a naming system with code which are:
G/ Home/ CSC refers to the applicability of the plans to the user segment. G-> General
FN in case night unlimited (02:00 hrs to 08:00 Hrs) is free
Rural in case the plan is rural plan
USOF in case the plan is USOF Plan
Super refers to high speed 16/24 Mbps Plan
Speed Refers to 8/16/24 Mbps Plan
Combo in case the plan is a combo plan inclusive of landline rental
    UL Unlimited
ULD Unlimited usage with differential speed
FMC represents the fixed monthly charges
E/P/CS represents whether the plan is a special plan for enterprise, promotional plan or Circle specific plan

So BBG COMBO 299 can’t be unlimited plan

BSNL has reduced the amount of data in 98 GPRS pack to 2 GB and in 54 GPRS pack 500 MB will be available.

Now thats what I call a self destruction strategy. With such a worst network if BSNL thinks that even after increasing prices or decreasing freebies it can win over the market then they should start consulting psychologists. They badly need a treatment.
