BSNL MOBILE TO OFFER “FREE ROAMING” IN NORTH EAST & ASSAM

BSNL MOBILE LAUNCHES FREE ROAMING FOR NORTH EASTIn an attempt to provide greater benefits to mobile users of North East telecom circle, state operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has introduced local tariff and FREE Roaming for  the entire North East including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland and Mizoram for its pre paid and post paid mobile subscribers from 1st September, 2009.

BSNL cheers its GSM Mobile customers in 7 sates of North East region of India with exciting Free Roaming and local tariff offers , according to an official circular dated 12 August, 2009. The release mentions that it has been decided by the "competent authority" to allow FREE ROAMING facility to all BSNL’s GSM mobile subscribers of North East to roam in Assam (and vice versa) as per certain terms and conditions.




The New FREE Roaming service will be effective from 1st September; all outgoing calls, SMS and GPRS-Data charges while Roaming will be charged as per the Local home tariff and Incoming calls while Roaming in all 7 states of North East including Assam would be also Free.

Calls and SMS charges between the two different license areas (LSA) ie. Assam and North East telecom circle will be treated as Local and all other terms and conditions would remain same.
