BSNL and Micromax tie up to offer free data and calling

BSNL and Micromax have just entered into a partnership to offer bundled data and free calling across its devices. The duo will offer free data for data cards as well in addition too. Here’s what they are offering:

Micromax-new-logo

  • 2GB of free data per quarter for 12 months
  • 500 minutes of voice calling per quarter for 12 months

The customer has to do a recharge of Rs 153 post buying a new Micromax device and inserting a BSNL SIM card in it. The offer will become applicable from 1/7/2014 and will go on for the next 6 months which is pretty much till the end of this year. The following are the model numbers of the applicable devices:

Smartphones

  • X-88
  • A-37
  • A-37B

Tablets

  • Micromax Funbook P-410-I

Data card

  • MMX-377G

This comes across as a good move to push the data consumption in India which is still not as high as it should actually be. Seeing the fact that all these are entry level devices in their respective arenas, it is pretty evident that it is the low cost market that is being targeted. extend this offer to all company dongles and mobiles with existing and new connections by just placing an IMEI number or any other process.

this is a good move by bsnl. bsnl has to improve its quality of service. and for speed concern it is better than docomo and many others in up west. and they charge what you use, not like others.

Do not think about this bogus data quality.
    At least in Kolkata circle.

Does one quarter mean 4 months and does that mean I would get 2GB for 4 months or put it the other way round you end up getting just 512mb for a month??

    • andy June 6, 2014 6:27 pm

      1 year = 12 months
      quarter = 1/4
      12/4 = 3
so 2 gb data for 3 months.
but real question is free data is 2g or 3g??
and recharge has to be done just once or every quarter??

Data packs are common for both 2g and 3g in bsnl. Only the device and coverage will decide the speed.

BSNL offered unified data plans. so there is no separate 2 g and 3 g plans.

2g packs of BSNL are completely eradicate on last year . but dont be happy with sloth speed 3g works as a 2g.

in bsnl there is no 2g. all customers are provided 3g. they have unified plans.
