U ALL KNOW ABOUT BSNL GUYS HOW WORST THEY WERE , THEY DON’T KNOW ABT THEIR OWN PRODUCTS N SERVICES.. NOBODY KNOWS FULL DETAILS ABOUT WIMAX. ONE OF THE H.O.D OF BSNL IN CHENNAI CITY TOLD ME WIMAX SIGNAL IS NOT WORKING IN CHENNAI ( I TRIED IN PERIAMET OPPOSITE TO CENTRAL RAILWAY STATION) . WIMAX IS WORKING IN SMALL TOWNS BUT NOT IN METRO CITY IS THIS IS TRUE?
ANYBODY PLEASE HELP ME TO KNOW ABT WIMAX?
IS BSNL WIMAX WORKS NATIONALLY WITHOUT ANY ROAMING CONDITIONS?

Wimax is actually meant as a replacement for landline Broadband where landline is not feasible. It is also meant to be fixed internet service not mobile, though you can carry it as it is wireless. But you will get the service in only areas near the tower with wimax equipped. Mostly urban area towers have wimax installed. But the indoor CPE works only within 2 km from the tower. Outdoor CPE may work upto 5km from tower. That may be the reason you are not getting it in your place in chennai. Either the nearest tower don’t have wimax or you are located beyond 2 km from tower. Ask Telephone exchange people. They can help by trying Outdoor CPE.

what about national roaming in wimax?
paul January 9, 2013 at 7:30 pm
Wimax is there only in 4 circles. I think there is no problem with roaming within a circle. But i don’t know if it is possible between circles.

Wi-max suck, 3g have better speed and almost same tariff
paul January 8, 2013 at 7:01 pm
@amit,
Ya 3G may have better speed but 3G is more costly than Wimax. Wimax is just an alternative for Landline Broadband which provides better speed than Broadband. Infact wimax 750UL gives constant 1 mbps speed while Landline BB 750 plan gives 1mbps upto 6GB beyond which it is 512kbps. In comparison with 3G i think no telecom provider provides true unlimited plans in 3G (may be with FUP which is not good) and cost is also high.

Dear,
WiMAX speed is much better than 3G. Theoretically speaking, where 3g can afford mere 56 Mbps, wimax has the potential of providing 1Gbps downlink speed.But practically the scenario is somewhat different. 3G practically provides approx. 80 Kbps download speed and Wimax 512kbps plan provides approx. 150Kbps which is of course better than 3G speed. But you may be correct because all depends upon the back haul connectivity by BSNL otherwise the above practical figures are my personal experience.

100Rs per every additional 1GB data? The 750 UL plan is far more better.
paul January 9, 2013 at 11:51 am
Ya but 850 plan is suitable for business customers. 750 UL is a home plan.
