You should have been set the speed atleast exact or near 512 Kbps or 1 Mbps after FUP. First of all you cover all the areas in 3G. Then you introduce more plans. LOL LOL.

In kerala I checked with all operators with MDMA to see the max speed set by them.
    BSNL 2G: 256kbp
    BSNL 2G plan in 3G: 256kbps
    Idea 2G: 256kbps
    Idea 2G plan on 3G: 128kbps and 1.2mbps upload(Now they don’t allow 3G users to use 2G packs)
    Airtel 2G: 256kbps
    Airtel 2G pack on 3G: 80kbps
    Vodafone 2G: 640kbps
Vodafone 2G paln on 3G: Not allowed
    Relaince and Docomo 2G: 480kbps
    Aircel 2G: 256kbps
The above are the max speed set by network. On 2G we get only max 236kbps EDGE speed. Few nokia phones said to support 290kbps EDGE, but don’t know whether it is practical.

How could you get 640kbps in 2g?

You will not get more than 236kbps on 2G. I was just telling the speed set by network. It was checked using MDMA software.

The speed is upto 15 kbps in 2G phones and using the same sim with a 3G phone the speed goes up to 150-215kbps with a UMTS setting. Bsnl really fast than any other service providers in my area. Airtel,Vodafone net recharges are too much high than Bsnl. Use bsnl and make cheap recharges to get connected with the world…

    Steve :

    Tharun George :
All BSNL 2G plans can be used on BSNL 3G network. You don’t need to activate 3G. Just switch to UMTS or WCDMA mode. We will get full 256kbps speed on 3G. That is consistent 32Kbps download rate.
So now with this new 700 plan BSNL offer we get 6GB 3G + True full speed 2G unlimited.
After many years true 2G unlimited is back. Aircel and others are only offering 128kbps which is half speed 2G unlimited.
The sad part is its only postpaid which sucks. Usually all offers in BSNL are available in both postpaid and prepaid.

lucky you. in goa maharastra the speed is caped to 128kbps when you use 2g packs in 3g mode

even that is good, other operator not allowing to use 3g mode without activating 3g

Recently I check Shaw Cable Canada websites. Shaw cable offer offer 250mbps internet with 1TB for $110. True unlimited 250mbps for 130$.
Also saw an article on Newyork times website about 1gbps internet in Hong Kong for 20$.
I am not telling India need 250mbps or 1gbps for cheap. But we should get 10mbps which is the world average. At least 5mbps.
But we get 1 or 2mbps from BSNL and other with no true unlimited and high cost for small 1GB. This is totally unfair. The government never cared about broadband in India till now. We had to wait 5 year to improve speed from 256kbps to 2mbps for BSNL in 2007. Now another 5 years over after that still we get 2mbps.

The best thing we can do .. is get MTNL Delhi sim and recharge with 4500 and get 200GB, thought out India .. ( roam free data of 200 GB in BSNL zones ) .. I have tried this.. it is wonderful plan.

Completely agree, I have been using the Delhi MTNL sim in Mumbai for over 2 months now, no roaming charges, 4500 plan for 200 GB with 180 validity is the best. And they haven’t blocked the torrent sites either unlike MTNL mumbai which has. so that’s an add-on advantage for me.

bsnl 3g service is fully down from last 15days speed is within 100-125kB/sec between 1am-7am. on other times its within 60bytes-1kB/sec! At the time of video call it’s constantly shows network busy.

It is a better option to get an MTNL 3G sim card from Delhi circle and use it in any circle on BSNL network with no extra roaming charges for data. You can take the Rs.4500 plan which gives 200 GB of 3G data for 180 days, thus it comes up to 750 per month for 33GB of data which would be sufficient for most people, no worrying about speed throttling. I am using a Delhi circle sim in Mumbai to access 3G with no extra charges for the past couple of years, I would suggest everyone to take full advantage of the pan India icra between Mtnl and BSNL.

The plans are just excellent however bsnl need to improve the coverage and network quality wherever offering 3G services. Most of the time congestion(even in 3G network) persists and we can’t even have quality voice calls on 3G(UMTS) mode so can’t think of having 6GB with high speed all over month except night when network offers really upto 1.5-2 Mbps speed on HSDPA network. BSNL need to expand 3G network and signal strengths wherever network is there. Then only it can put stiff resistance to private operators in all circles for 3G services.

I’m least concerned about 256 kbps gprs speed after it

It will be much better if they introduced this plan in Prepaid too !

Also launch the same Unlimited plan for 350 valid for 1 month with 3 GB !!
