Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) today announced the launch of EVDO a high speed wireless broadband service with India Wide Internet access facility while on move .The Company claims BSNL EVDO Data Card can offer speed up to 2.4 mbps, faster than existing mobile wireless service and now BSNL providing the India Wide Roaming on its EVDO service. BSNL EVDO broadband service allows customers to be connected not only for mails, but also for downloads, large files uploads, photo sharing, etc.
BSNL EVDO Data Card comes with a price tag of Rs.2,100 and can be used in laptop or in desktop PC.BSNL also introduces the Unlimited Internet Usage plan at Rs.650 per month. BSNL customer can use EVDO card to access the High speed wireless broadband service across India.
The above tariff will be effective from 1 st July, 2009 for all new customers. For existing customers who have already taken the cards and are presently getting unlimited service @ Rs.550 for EVDO card, they have to migrate to higher plan after completion of 6 months period and due intimation has to be given to them as per TRAI directions on the subject.
The awareness and demand for wireless Internet connectivity is increasing rapidly and with laptop and PC sales showing exponential growth, there is a huge demand for wireless high-speed Internet access, BSNL EVDO broadband service allows customers to be connected not only for mails, but also for downloads, large files uploads, photo sharing, etc. It also allows users to send and receive SMS and is compatible with both laptops and desktop PCs.
BSNL is the first to roll out EVDO Internet in India. The EVDO was launched unofficially back in September 2007 by BSNL and now, after the establishing better EVDO network, BSNL has started to launch officially in most parts of the country and now its the EVDO users can acess the high speed wireless broadband with India wide roaming facility.

I have been listening big big things about the internet speed of EVDO card and here too one more. But a person residing in Bhubaneswar, the Capital City of Odisha told that he was unable to expect even a normal speed through this EVDO; getting frustrated with the speed, he had come the same BSNL office where he had purchased that EVDO, to change to any other means by which he could have access internet at a normal speed at least.
I wasted my time here bcz I’m in rural area, BSNL Tower is within 5 KMs air distance, accessing internet through BSNL Wimax but most of the time the internet connection runs out showing ‘Server Not Found’. For this problem, I urgently require another alternative having this Wimax too.
Still I want to be confirmed whether this EVDO serve me best when I run out of internet through Wimax. My data usage is about 1GB/4days.
How much speed can the EVDO provide in my geographical location?

no use BSNL CDMA network is very bad, why they are still experimenting on CDMA. now landline use only for corporate office. and cdma in rural still a dream. better focus on GSM and 3g. still bsnl unable to provide FWP and FWT at low cost.
i suggest bsnl to launch prepaid landline. i am sure it will rock and forced private landline operators to provide low cost tarriff in prepaid landline.

I am staying in LAKWA area in Assam near simuluguri . Kindly let me know whether i can use this wireless data card in this area . my main purpose is yahoo messenger chat . please guide me wether this will work in this area..
Till last week i was in sivasagar area and i was having the land line broadband
, now i have surrendered that and planing to go for high speed data card from BSNL please guide me . if posible give me any address of this area existoing user..

As per the bengali leading newspaper from Calcutta AnadaBazar Patrika a news has come up that The Govt Of India would be granting BSNL the much needed MahaNavaratna Status very soon..BSNL has been waiting for this status so that they can move more freely into the Telecom market…It may be noted here that MTNL has already got the Navaratna status way back

its good that they increased only rs100, but in some places the connection is as slow as dial up connection as number of connected users increase. hope they place enough equipments in such places to handle the trafiic.
