For the use of Micro sim, BSNL is charging Rs. 600.00 per month for the use of 6 GB. One may not require 6 GB in a month. Can the BSNL think of something around Rs. 300.00 per month for the use of say 3 GB? Then persons like me can make use of the facilities offered by BSNL.

Only BSNL can offer this much low wireless 3G pricing as 3G needs not only spectrum but also bandwidth upto cell tower. BSNL towers 90% connected throught Optical Fiber(OFC) and they can carry theoretically unlimited bandwidth. private players still using Microwave communication between cell towers. Microwave technology is having very limited bandwidth comparing to OFC. For private companies upgrading the infrastructure needs lots of money. So they cant reduce the tariffs below a point….

    To PD
Using BSNL 3G connection any one can use 3G all over india(including Mumbai and Delhi) No other private player have this “all india roaming agreement”.

BSNL/MTNL sharing arrangements on 3G are not in place. Also tariffs are not harmonised understandably due to high spectrum charges paid for 3G, but this needs to be worked out sooner than later. Dunno how the EVDO experience on BSNL is, but their tariffs on EVDO are certainly not the lowest. If current trends on handsets are anything to go by, people might use dual technology to use CDMA EVDO for data and 3G/GSM for voice deriving the best price performance ratio.

At present they are offering 3.6 Mbps every where and in some places speed is around 7.2 Mbps which they are going to increase upto minimum of 14.1 Mbps to 21.1 Mbps before March of this year as they are upgrading their network for this on war footing speed.

IT is really surprising to note the statement “that the BSNL enjoy PAN-INDIA presence” ! IT is understandable if the media refers to but what about the CMD, BSNL ? BSNL has no presence in Mumbai and Delhi only they have ROAMING partnership with MTNL, that too half-baked one !

If THE HINDU report is believed its Chairman himself is claiming this !

KANCHEEPURAM: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s target to roll out 3G services in 760 cities will be achieved by this fiscal, according to its Chairman and Managing Director Gopal Das.

Talking to mediapersons after a function on Rajiv Gandhi Salai in Padur, near Kelambakkam, on Saturday, he said the pan-India presence enjoyed by BSNL had helped in smooth and easy rollout of 3G services in 700 cities. In the remaining 60 cities, the 3G services would be rolled out by March 31, he said. courtesy :The Hindu

The statements too are vague – 700 cities ! Earlier, elsewhere it was stated that BSNL has 3G coverage in 765 cities ! Even if this too is correct – Does it mean all the areas in all the circles (20, of course- two circles are covered by MTNL) ? No definite not. For namesake cities in the SSAs are handpicked for statistical analysis !

@A Mohapatra you can get a similar limited data plan in 3G by doing Rs. 606 Easy recharge for your current 3G sim…. It will give you total 6GB free (5Gb night and 1 GB day) for 30 days… BSNL is also offering many flexible 3G data plans from Rs. 10 (RS 10 will give 20 MB free and valid for 1 day, Rs. 25 gives 50 MB and validity is 3 days, Rs. 50 gives 100 MB and validity is 7 days) you just need to do a Easy recharge for these denominations to avail these… i am currently using Rs. 700 Unlimited plan, which is really great, which i came to know from TT and I am thankful to TT for this…

I know that Rs. 606 plan but what I want is anytime usage of 6 GB. I get headache if I surf for long in night hours.
