BSNL enhances its SMS based services for Landline Customers [Updated]

BSNL SMS ComplainBSNL was notorious for requiring a customer to visit Customer Service Centers to avail minor services – STV activation, registered mobile number change etc.. In the recent times things have changed with SMS based registrations. Now BSNL has started allowing customers to register mobile numbers (BSNL only at present) other than the one provided in the CAF form at the time of registering for a landline connection. The enhanced system allows customers to register complaints for faulty landline and broadband by SMS in addition to few more.

SMS Short code for these services is 53334. To avail the services one has to register mobile number first.

Mobile Number Registration

REG<space><STD Code-Landline Number><space><Customer ID or Billing Account No.> Customer ID and Billing Account Number can be found in the previous bill you received

Mobile Number & Email ID registration

REG<space><STD Code-Landline Number><space><Customer ID or Billing Account No.><space><Email ID>

To register email ID if you have a registered mobile number:

For all the SMS sent in the above formats, reply SMS in the form of acceptance or rejection or errors would be generated. Timely resolution alerts would also be sent to customers.

Customers can also choose to know the keyword availability and usage through LIST or HELP keywords.

LIST Send an SMS with word list to 53334. Use one of the keywords received here for HELP.

We feel this is a welcome move from BSNL. Let’s hope BSNL starts providing more such facilities in near future. In my personal experience, I failed to go green as their CRM didn’t register my request properly. Such things rarely happen with SMS based systems but BSNL must take care about them.

Internet Users can get SMS Services for Landline/Broadband services by registering through for South Zone ( Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chennai, Tamilnadu, Kerala) region for North Zone ( Haryana, Punjab, UP(West), UP(East), Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir) region for West Zone ( Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh & Gujarat ) region for East Zone ( Kolkata, Orissa, Bihar, West Bengal, Adman Nicobar, Assam, Jharkhand, North East ) region.
All the above mentioned services are allowed as free of cost by BSNL

If you need details of Activation & Deactivation Procedure for BSNL Land line Services, this should help.

Bsnl want be a success ???
Only need to do two things.
    1. For landline, promote new land line connections. Eg. In state Keralam bsnl stopped giving new landline and broadband connection saying no cable is available, denying services to the people.
    2. For mobile, make sure that every customer is getting proper signal inside their house to make a call.
Bsnl will be a success, sure. One thing to next time when you go to vote make sure that you voted to the candidate of “aam admi party”:-),then our government will be a total :-) success:-).

How is this different from BSNL flash service?

I tried both methods (flash & the method described here), but never able to register my email. They never send any bill to my email. Only way to get BSNL e-bill from BSNL care CRM portal.

Also I wish they could do the same for postpaid EDVO.
