BSNL Crosses 1 Million 3G Mobile Subscriber Mark

India's National Telecom Backbone and 3G Mobile Service operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) today announced that it has crosses One Million 3G GSM Mobile service subscriber mark just with in few months of commercial launch.

Creating a paradigm shift in the Digital communications, BSNL starts to launch 3G service in March 2009 in some cities of India and invested 27 billion to build infrastructure for its UMTS/3G network in various telecom circles across the country to accommodate every one in next generation Mobile and Data services. By making 3G services affordable with lowest Voice call and Video call charges as well as high speed 3G wireless Broadband Data connectivity at 1 paisa for 10 KB which brings the One Million 3G subscribers under BSNL umbrella.




Mr. Kuldip Goyal, CMD, BSNL stated "We have achieved a new benchmark in terms of 3G subscribers across India. BSNL has crossed the 1 Million mark in terms of the number of 3G subscribers recently."

BSNL has license and spectrum for 3G Mobile services across the country, except Mumbai and Delhi circle where another PSU MTNL operate the telecom services. Presently 3G services over BSNL network are available in 370 cities and the operators target is to spread it to 700 cities by July 2010.

However in West Zone (Maharashtra -Goa and Gujarat) and some more cities; its 3G network and services are not available yet. According to the operator, the 3G network up-gradation work is going on in full swing across India to accommodate every one in the next generation mobile network.
