BBM for Android and iPhone Notches More than 10 Million Downloads in the First Day

BlackBerry today says that BBM has been downloaded more than 10 million times within 24 hours since its release on the Android and iOS platforms, one of the best single-day openings for a mobile app to date.

BBM for Android and iPhone

BBM also quickly rose through the rankings on the App Store to be the number one free app in more than 75 countries in the first 24 hours, including the US, Canada, the UK, Indonesia, India and most of the Middle East.

User ratings in both the App Store and Google Play are overwhelmingly positive, earning BBM 60,000 five-star reviews on Google Play from about 87,000 reviews.

BBM on Android is big for India since Android commands over 90 percent of the Indian smartphone market. BlackBerry suggests that Android smartphone users head to from their Android browser and click on the Google Play link from there, since Google Play – App Store is ridden with lot of fake BBM Apps, malicious apps that claim to be BBM but will wreck your smartphone.

    No Call option but ?

  • rama October 23, 2013 4:58 pm

+1 but thats as long as the app is available for free
lets see the numbers after blackberry starts charging a fee i have three things in mind either blackberry can make the app available for free for everyone by putting up ads(worst option in my opinion),make app available for free with ads and make the app add free for those who pay for it(best option),make the app a paid app by default.

That this rate BBM will reach 100 million in just one month. Within one year BBM will have 10 times users than WhatsApp.
