I am a subsriber of 3G mobile service of BSNL in Bangalore for nearly 6 months.
Of late (one month) I am reciveing freqent messages “You have used xxx kybytes. Cost of the last GPRS session is Rs 0.03 etc” . Today alone, I have received 49 messages and my mobile battery gets discharged soon that I am compelled to charge my mobile twice a day, whereas the charge used to remain for 4 days earlier.
I sent messages to BSNL with a request for getting the GPRS diabled but no action is being taken by BSNL and I am still suffering.
Can anyone please help me by guiding me how to stop receiving this flow of unwanted messages every 10 mts?
Best wishes,
Narayan Kurup

3G video calling is good, there is no buffering or time delay and the datatransfer rate is better compared to other 3G providers.

Welcome BSNL 3G…..Last Saturday I walked into a BSNL office in Bangalore with one of my friends who was interested in getting Dataone broadband connection from BSNL. When we visited the office I was surprised to see a large crowed fighting to get BSNL 3G SIM cards! I also saw some folks holding shanzhai smartphones in their hand and eagerly crawling into the queue to experience 3G

BSNL 3G really rocks…I have been getting really nice speeds on my mobile. Youtube can be streamed seamlessly.
BSNL 3G Internet Speed is simply awesome, considering the low signal strength that I am getting near Marathahalli area. On Category 6 mobile phones – Nokia N97, N97 Mini etc. I am getting 2.3Mbps. see that here http://www.speedtest.net/result/728379959.png
I also test it on category 9 devices E72, 6700Classic I am getting up to 4.1Mbps downlink speed. Uplink is prettymuch the same: around 140Kbps.

When will BSNL 3G Service Expand across Karnataka
Sikander Singh Ruhil February 23, 2010 at 8:34 am
It’s very easy for 2G customers to migrate to 3G plan, by simply sending this sms to 53733. M3G25 for existing postpaid BSNL customers and M3G120 for existing prepaid BSNL customers. After a reply sms from 53733, you are required to send M3GY to subcribe to 3G service.

@Sanjay:Thanks for sharing this info.
I’ve some more to share.
The 3G-USIM can be obtained from Bangalore one centers listed in the link below:http://www.bangaloreone.gov.in/public/b1centres.aspx
Please call before you bump into one of the centers. I called a couple of them around Jayanagar and they had the sims. The best option is to go to one of the CSC in the link above as they will have choice of number etc and offcourse the complete info, which the Bangalore one centers lack.
If you have got a privileged customer coupon with your BSNL landline bill, you can get the sim free of cost (Rs 59 is waived). However you’ll have to recharge with FRC @ Rs 120 once you sim is activated.
My sim has not been activated yet. Once it does, i’ll keep you all posted.
Thanks for your update

wow now bsnl started 3g in india when whole world is mooving to 4g network still we see it is a great achievement and fell proud that to for very late 3g launch a public meeting with cm and IT minister for their TREMENDOUS ACHIEVEMENT really very silly india ####################3
Deb February 19, 2010 at 8:09 pm
If anyone is a 3G customer & he makes a call with 2G network then rate of 2G charge is applicable inspite of 30p/min. 3G network is available in limited area. This is a vital problem with BSNL.
TABARAK MUHAMMAD February 19, 2010 at 6:45 pm
Gr8,,but when this service available for rest of the cities of Karnataka?,,,preferably HASSAN CITY?
