Ban on Bulk SMS and MMS Withdrawn By Govt of India

Now, there seems to great relief for all the SMS fans! According to our exclusive sources, Govt of India’s (Home Ministry) today withdrawn SMS Bans and Department of Telecommunications (DoT) sends new directive to all mobile service providers to withdrawal of the SMS Ban and remove the the limit of 20 SMS per day per SIM for all mobile subscribers with immediate effect.

The Govt of India banned bulk SMSes and MMSes or more than 5 SMS per day for a period of 15 days starting Aug 17 in the wake of a hate campaign targeting people from the northeast and which has been revised up 20 SMS per day August 23rd, 2012 as earlier we shared on TelecomTalk

We also spoke with our sources in leading GSM service provider MTNL and BSNL and both operators are going to implement the new order today by removing SMS/MMS CAP of 20 SMS/MMS per day per SIM

Delhi Court order ??? What was the Court order ??? Was GOI asked by Court to withdraw ban on SMSs ???

Aircel already implement this in KOLKATA circle.
as per their CC care and sms based service(12121):
    Rs.49-3000 loc+nat sms/per day.val-30 days.
    [NOTE:Yah,you are reading true.it is not 3000sms/month.that mean 90,000 sms for 30days!]

No I called Aircel CC care and enquired about 3000sms/day issue. The CCE told me no the pack provides 3000sms /month.The sms based service provides wrong information.

Can you ask him/her,about 49 SMS pack?one of my friend use Aircel and she tell me just now that they gives 500sms/day for Rs.49.val-30days.

    @ TelecomTalk

Request TT to share an operator wise status of the REMOVAL OF THE BAN
Will help all TT readers know whether their operator has complied or not!
IMHO (In My Humble Opinion) it will take 2-5 days to remove this ban, across all operators (just as some took their time to implement it!)

Dear Duane, Before publishing this post, I spoke with many operators on the status of ‘REMOVAL OF THE BAN’ and only Govt operators -BSNL and MTNL confirms that they are lifting the BAN with immediate effect as Govt order. Other operator will do the same with in 24 hours, I don’t think they (Pvt Operators) will take time of 2-5 days to remove this ban.

    Thanks!
