Airtel’s music app Wynk has posted a milestone of 25 million downloads since its launch in September 2014. Wynk is also the most downloaded app on Google Play Store since December 2015, said a release from the company. According to the statistics, Wynk plays over 15 million songs per day to the customers. Also, 60% of the users who installed Wynk Music app are non-Airtel subscribers. The average time spent on Wynk Music app per month by a user is estimated to be five hours.

The combination of growing smartphone penetration and proliferation of mobile internet in the country has given a significant push to the uptake music streaming, particularly amongst younger audiences who look for quality content on the go. Given the importance of music our lives, we believe we have only scratched the surface as far as the potential of music streaming goes,” commented Kartik Sheth, CEO – Wynk.
Wynk offers music from over 500 labels in 12 languages. It also has streaming partnership rights with nearly all content providers. Recently, it launched a mobile site www.wynk.in/music, enabling users to play music from any browser on their mobile devices.
The app launched Data Save Mode with 2G optimization in June 2015 helping users to save 70% of data. In January 2016, it also introduced MP3 Player function.
