Exclusive: Airtel To Unveil An All New Refreshing Logo

It looks like Bharti Airtel, India’s largest telecom operator is all set to undergo a brand makeover and unveil an all new refreshing new logo next week.

By looking at the logo Bharti, it looks like Airtel has taken inspiration from none other than Zain Telecom of Africa which Bharti Airtel recently acquired.

Since Airtel is going global with the acquisition of Zain Telecom, Airtel felt the necessity of changing its logo and soon this refreshing and youth looking logo will be unveiled within the next few days, probably next week, reports ET.

The new logo of Airtel is:

Let’s see how it will look when the same is incorporated on the Recharge cards:

Airtel will be spending Rs 300 Crores globally to change the brand identity. The new brand is expected to be unveiled all across India, Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Seychelles. Company had already said that Zain will be re-branded as Airtel recently.

Do let us know about what you think on the new Logo, hate it or love it :)

    Bankruptcy…..!!!!

  • Sumit December 2, 2010 11:20 pm

Please comes with cheapest call rate for your existing 2g gsm mobile services and also comes with local&std unlimited (on net) plan in all circles on pan india basis just like reliance mobile.

  • Sayed Ziyaur Rahman November 29, 2010 1:35 am

It is good to change. There is no logo in old one.It was just like alphabets written by a villager .As company is looking globally it must have to change. The new LOGO is perfect,it shows ” a little creature achive greate success”

  • Roy November 21, 2010 4:13 am

Well, there’s a strategic idea behind the change. Airtel is going to acquire Africa’s Zain Mobile, so before going global Airtel wanted to get a new face. Also keep the similarity with the Zain logo. So, its a positive move. But the Design house BrandUnion did a silly job to make it like an inverted videocon logo, some relate it to uninor or Kolkata TV and some relate the colors with Vodafone!

Typo is pathetic, Lower Case is a new trend today but here, the lower case ‘a’ looks like a hanging tummy compare to vodafone uses lower case has more balance. Atleast they could have retain the capital ‘A’. For the shape…only the designer knows what’s that crazy thought has twisted his head to create this TWISTER! In terms of execution, the Twister is not really smooth..its a weird mix of curve and straight lines!

But, anyway All the Best Airtel!

I like this new logo.its refreshing and trendy..why everyone hate this for no reasen?
i hope there service and plans also improve with this new logo

  • Pankaj Sehjowalia November 16, 2010 11:22 pm

Of course, it is a good change and definitely for better.
The first logo was associated with good network service in india when airtel started growing. Somehow, network problems in recent 2 years have changed the whole persona of the brand. Brand stands for its service delivery. Logo or rather business will last long with more focus on quality of service.

  • Subbaiah November 16, 2010 10:58 pm

dont know if it was influenced by ZAin but is definetly influenced by Blackberry’s (r)

  • Bharateshs November 15, 2010 6:23 pm

  • priya November 15, 2010 4:27 pm

I liked the old logo but change is always good.. ppl are used to seeing the old logo so not confortable accepting the change …. but its gonna give a fresh identity to Airtel on and international forum… great work :D:D n all the best :D

  • Dileep November 15, 2010 10:35 am

Old logo is very plain and needed a revampas it is going global, but this new logo is not at all a refreshing one.Expectations from Airtel is much higher.

  • Abhijith November 14, 2010 11:27 pm

Its moderated symbol of zain . . This newer airtel logo a is designed like cyclone. .same like videocons . . V . . I liked it . . Good to go globally with this logo

  • Proximus November 14, 2010 10:09 pm

This New Logo is not good.the existing one is the good one

  • PDNair November 14, 2010 9:53 pm

    @sri
Almost 100% TT bloggers are of the same view. I have been one of their prepaid customers (and still is – but with limited utilization) nearly 15-16 years. Their reputation in Mumbai and surrounding / neighboring areas are at the bottom end ! Of course they have good customer base elsewhere but losing subscribers should be taken as forewarning – an unsatisfied customer’s negative views could definitely wean away potential loyalists too ! Hope they may seek second a opinion on this harakiri !

  • jagan November 14, 2010 6:46 pm

sorry.. its not appealing for an Indian brand expanding its presence in global. Old logo is very plain and must be revamped one. but his new logo is not a refreshing look.

Off topic. Airtel – when its going to carry in airtel.com domain?

  • sri November 14, 2010 6:46 pm

    PDNair :
TT please take the viewers reaction tell AIRTEL not to change to the selected hearing aid !!! It is something weird too – animal mouth or so. Or do they have some vodafone vision over their new logo – anyway it not at all acceptable !

    @PDNair

They are really going mad. If they really want to change logo, they ask people around the world to submit their logos and they should have selected one. I cant understand why this kind of reputed companies going this way. Is it re-branding or No-branding?

The current logo has a timeless look. The new logo may ruin it’s identity.

P.S – I am designer so I know what the impact is when you rebrand a reputable company.

  • Indar Jangid November 14, 2010 12:54 pm

It should not be changed yaar …. existing logo is awesome ………. much much better than this new logo…

    Please don’t change it … I don’t like this

  • Benny November 14, 2010 11:32 am

    @steve
I agree… May be when they explain what the logo means we’ll all like it… but still this logo may have to be tweaked a little to be accepted by everyone…
The new logo is kind of youthful and it is to catch youngsters’ attention

  • steve November 14, 2010 8:24 am

what is use of new brand identity????

  • Keshav Jha November 13, 2010 10:59 pm

Both logo is good, it doesn’t matter which is best. It is very bad idea to invest rs 300 crore in this foolish work. Finally Airtel will loot this money from it’s customers.

  • ashR November 13, 2010 10:31 pm

After the trending topic about Facebook and Gmail cold war, I am sure that everyone would be surely waiting eagerly to check out what Facebook is going to offer with new webmail client Titan. Titan being a Facebook product can turn out to be a good competition to Gmail in terms of privacy and spamming. Hope we get emails from the ones we already know from Facebook users or friends. The mail address would be in format like whiztechy@facebook.com, that is Facebook email address for users.

It would be good to experience a webmail client with a flavor of social media but then also it’s too early to say that Titan would be a Gmail killer webmail client or not. Let’s wait for Monday event and see what Titan have to offer. To stay updated about Facebook event, don’t forget to subscribe to CallingAllGeeks.

Meanwhile do share with us what you think about Facebook’s Titan mail service and what special feature it would be having?

  • shoeb November 13, 2010 9:58 pm

Looks like the font is same as uninor and its all in lowercase also that symbol lookis like one of the leaf of uninor just folded upwards..

  • Amit.G November 13, 2010 9:49 pm

I love old logo of Airtel… It makes me feel Good when i see Airtel Logo infact i had kept it as wallpaper for few Days.. Even new logo is not Bad. Anyhow CHANGE IS GOOD :-)

  • Sankalp November 13, 2010 9:42 pm

The new logo does not really gel with Indian consumers instantly. Though over a period of time people might get habituated to it. Still, in my opinion it does not strike a chord in terms of Brand Recall. Thumbs Down.

  • Arif November 13, 2010 8:45 pm

Old AirTel’s logo is the best. This new logo is not good, looks very bad.

  • Himanshu November 13, 2010 8:13 pm

This is not looking good,bt will be accepted globaly. And will the airtel logo change also on digital tv screen?

  • madhu prasad November 13, 2010 8:11 pm

OLD LOGO better than the new. I would have given them much better LOGO if they would have asked.

Airtel please dont change the current logo. But if you want then please have a better one.

  • sam November 13, 2010 7:21 pm

Logo Change karne se network quality change hogi kya?????????????????

  • Vishal November 13, 2010 7:15 pm

Airtel is spending 80% of 300 crore in africa. For name change from zain to airtel. Old logo was attractive as it had white font&red backgroud and red font & white background. They could have done here also. Nevermind, its better in terms of vodafone. Vodafone deducted Rs 210 for international incoming call which i have never received. I will b changing from vodafone to airtel when MNP starts.

    sahil :
Yes guys.I also agree with u. If a makeover is needed, then do the same for the plans.Being the largest telco of India, they provide really the worst plans.
As per the logo is concerned, its truly of a bakwaas type.Their previous one is much much better.

Right Said Sahil, Rather than changing logos and stuffs like this should make the plan and tariff of 3G acceptable by the peoples….

  • Kamal Halder November 13, 2010 6:04 pm

    sahil :
The new logo is bad as their policies specially for broadband. If they r so desperate for a makeover, then they better do a makeover of their plans & offers rather than a logo.

Right Said Sahil, Rather than changing logos and stuffs like this should make the plan and tariff of 3G acceptable by the peoples….

  • sahil November 13, 2010 6:02 pm

the logo perfectly reflects the character of airtel – i.e tedha (swoosh). airtel is a tedha and a fraud company which is behind the delay of number portability with the collaboration of its conspirator friends vodafone and idea. here’s the proof –

i was thinking of converting from my current vodafone connection to airtel through mnp, but after this i have changed my mind and will opt for docomo or rcom instead.

first they have to upgrade there signal tower from booster to real tower….no coverage ….i had given complent from past 5 year about the coverage but no use…then they told me 3G is coming so dont worry ur network problem will clear soon…but no 3G for kerala….now wat to do….now they are professional and matured not for helping but for taking money from mobile for not active VAS product..when we complent they say sorry..we will return ur money in 48 hr

Strongly agree.. Just by sending SMS to 1909 one can register for NDC and stop unwanted marketing calls. Now one has the option to receive marketing calls and SMSs or deny. Similarly TRAI should take initiative to make it mandatory to all operators to give an option to its customer if they would like to start any of the VAS simply using their mobile or not. In future if any of the customer who opted NO has to give written request for activation of any VAS.
I am sure most of the people will opt for written option rather than activating VAS by using their mobile. Questions may be raised about the loss because of cumbersome written process of activation of VAS. But similar questions were raised when NDC was started. But it running successfully.

  • Sandeep November 13, 2010 4:43 pm

Yes It’s a question mark to you asking why you have chosen Airtel when other cheap operators available in the market. Also they could have done much using this 300 crores. I remember just 3 years back they changed the Airtel logo…I feel it’s waste of money.

  • Amit Karmakar November 13, 2010 1:39 pm

  • S November 13, 2010 1:14 pm

Sunil Mittal resides in Delhi and is superstitious about the number 23, as he was born on the 23rd and also got married on the 23rd day of the month. He also stops eating meat before any big venture. So I guess 23rd is the day for change of logo too. :)

  • Arun November 13, 2010 1:09 pm

Red colour is not good. Old logo is better & cool

  • S November 13, 2010 1:08 pm

Since the Zain brand would be replaced by Airtel on November 23, nevertheless I guess the change will be done the same day. The current logo looks better and the new logo looks like some cyclone has passed by, thereby causing damage to the logo. hehehe

  • Arun November 13, 2010 1:07 pm

Red colour is not good. Old logo is better

  • steve November 13, 2010 1:06 pm

    wow that logo look kool

  • Kanaga Deepan N November 13, 2010 12:49 pm

Old one is very simple, yet much better… New one is looking like an OLD-LADY in one look and like a QUESTION-MARK in another look..

Hmmm… 300C for just refreshing a logo??? So 13000C for 13 circle 3G-spectrum is nothing big for them, imho…

  • abhishek November 13, 2010 12:46 pm

Instead of wasting 300 crores on their logo change. Airtel should invest it in network maintenance. Airel netowrk sucks at many places in Pune…

  • abhi November 13, 2010 12:43 pm

    WELL DONE
