India’s largest GSM Mobile service operator Airtel launches two new SMS packs for its prepaid subscribers in Maharashtra and Goa circle.The New SMS Pack offers 5000 to 15000 Free Local and National SMS at the price point of Rs.24 and Rs.67 respectively.
Now Airtel Maharashtra-Goa subscriber can send up to 5000 Local and National SMS only for Rs.24. This SMS pack will be valid only 10 days.
With the recharge of Rs.67, Airtel Subscriber can get up to 15000 local and national SMS with the validity of 30 days.The Free SMS will not will not valid in black-out days.For more details on these SMS packs call 98900-12345.

msg pack is vry costly….. n nly 100sms per day is terrible…
it ends up in 80 msgs itself…airtel is goin to worst from the best in a vry short tym

I have faced a problem in 67sms pack. On the daily basis i can sent only 100sms.
I contacted to costemer care and they told me, ur sms limit has been complted. in this pack u can sent only 100sms on the same day.
Rs.10 sms pack is better then 67.

Vodafone Rs 29 & Rs 80 – same offers ! .. but i guess both will come to kolkata with Rs 15-20 RC with 1p/sms ! a lot of people moved to now-not-bad reliance gsm for 1p/sms scheme ! more over Reliance has no blck out days for free/discounted sms ! Airtel had 31st dec &1st jan,while vodfn has only 1st jan !!!

True in some sense, but consider inflation, increasing competition, tariff wars… they have to pay more to staff and for equipments and maintenance, operations… so low ARPU in these markets is a real concern and disposing proposition than 2years ago.
Number of active (but rarely used) SIM cards are increasing as people are going for so many providers just to use the better offers respectively… but this is adding to capacity outrun and they have to set up more BTSs, more CC staff, upgrade systems, backbone bandwidth… considering the extra costs, hoping the lowering of minimum commitment is bleak!
MTNL is a regional player and a PSU, so keep it out of question…

yes. but when v paid rs 999 for lifetime pack, they only asked us to get 10 rs min recharage in 6 months. i m having the voda sms for the same, as its proof. by paying large amt of 1000/-, v hv effectively bought the number. min rech amt was less when call rates were around rs. 2. after call rate reduced to re 1, they increased min requirement.
atleast they can reduce the commitment like mtnl ask 100 rs as min rech.

1.RC 33 – Rechage with Rs. 33 and send 500 Local/National SMSs/day FREE for 10 days.
2.RC 80 – Rechage with Rs. 80 and send 500 Local/National SMSs/day FREE for 30 days.

Rs.200/6months = ARPU of Rs.33! Now any operator would want that much to offer the connection. Whether you make/receive call/sms/data or not, you are using their spectrum while your phone is on; and must pay some minimum charges for it.
Actually ARPU of Rs.33 means huge losses… so forget it, think when we used to pay Rs.999 for lifetime validity (not long ago, just 2yrs), we are much better off now with built in lifetime validity… If you try to squeeze something more, eventually it breaks, so be happy.

trai. plz remove the condition, laid by majority operators, of minimum usage of 200 rs in 6 months in the lifetime pack.
every operator trying to ‘lure’ me with their new schemes. so i want to try all of the 10-12 operators in my circle(!), for their specific schemes.
but i dont to spend 12 * 200 = 2400 Rs. in 6 months. (400/- pm). any other takers for removing the criteria of 200 min usage!!!

this is another bullshit plan from Airtel, while most hotselling SMS PACKs costs Rs 30-35/month for upto 3000SMS, this Rs 24 comes with only 10 day validity !
