Airtel is a bloody chor operator.. i bot an airtel prepaid sim and i live and work thru home… after 5 days the sim got blocked and upon finding out i got to know that it was blocked becoz of failed verification. but i stay at home all of the time… no body came to verify… airtel only knows how to harass customers. i have also been using landline for past 5 yrs nd i have faced error in billing many times. wrong charges billed.. finally the fresh sim that i took from relationship centre also got blocked and i threw the sim in the dustbin and returned to my good old vodafone…

Airtel is no match to vodafone in tariffs…
Vodafone kolkata offers all std and local calls at rs 48 bonus…
While in other places itz rs 49

I didn’t find it intresting. Other companies like Rilance GSM, has a tariff voucher of rs. 16 only. and it only charges rs. 1 for local for 1 min. and then 50 paise rest of the calls. In STD it charges rs. 1.5 for 1 min. and rest rs. 1 for all the calls, applicable for all the networks….

In above reply, i mistakenly replied to Duane. I wanted to reply to rahul’s post.

@Duane
Yes, you got right point. Fire at their infrastructure last year played important part. But after that airtel has woked up. They did upgrade network. Now they have more holding capacity & network strength. Call clearity is good without call drop, network congestion problems which were present previously.
rahul August 8, 2009 at 1:15 pm
even IDEA , AIRCEL , RELIANCE GSM, LOOP getting around 50000 customers per month in Mumbai
but AIRTEL is big flop in Mumbai though in Maharastra & Goa circle Airtel is just behind IDEA at No 2
I think the fire at Airtel Towers in Mumbai played a part here
Anuj August 8, 2009 at 11:28 am
Even airtel has no answer of this. It is because poor marketing & lack of eye catching offers to youth. As well Mumbai is market of heavy users mainly corporate customers. Vodafone have tie up with most corporate houses & acquiring mainly postpaid customers. Also their campus pack are targeting youth & college going. Airtel need to focus on both these segments by heavy marketing & attractive offering. Otherwise both companies have same potential.
rahul August 8, 2009 at 10:41 am
airtel only getting 8000-9000 customers in Mumbai Circle for the last 6 months
whereas vodafone getting 60000-70000 customers in Mumbai during same period
two almost equal company but customer addition in not equal
can any body explain this downfall please ?
Anuj August 8, 2009 at 9:13 am
In recent days you seen Airtel is loosening pockets in circles like Kolkata, WB, AP. It was because tough competition they are facing & it is a practice of company to keep its market share constant. Now competition in Mumbai & Maharashtra is rising. In Mumbai, they are acquiring very less customers. In Maharashtra, Vodafone is now acquiring more customers are fighting for second portion against Airtel. So now Airtel may loose pockets in these circles.

@TUSHAR SHARMA
TUSHAR the North market is saturated .. hence SOUTH which has more potential is the preferred hunting ground of telcos!
Duane August 8, 2009 at 1:51 am
@rahul

kaushik August 7, 2009 at 10:24 pm
