to all mobile operators providing per sec billing – if they are charging per second in base circle tariff then why the heck are they charging in minutes while roaming (even in their own network)?
Kalpit October 31, 2009 at 10:07 pm
They are alive only because of Airtel

airtel is the best in its network coverage. No network connectivity problum. if u want u can use plans like 149 —>>> 300 std minutes free. many plans available here. but connectvity and voice quality is great wth AIRTEL

@fahad,my reliance number is still working, but the damn cc no is busy
Ishwer Singh October 31, 2009 at 12:22 pm
Airtel Freedom is of no use if u have ur friends family on other network.
So, While comparing Aircel is better then this one and TATA Docomo is best of all.
Simply Reliance is also better as compared to this Airtel New Freedom plan that provides Rate of 50 paisa while in Roaming also.

ha ha..! Tata Docomo guys must be observing all those things very carefully thinking what to do next!! They don’t have any exclusivity now..
Ok, i have confirmed following things from one senior executive at prepaid installation department of Airtel that this per second billing plan shall be available in all the telecom circles from same time, that is from tonight, 12AM & all existing as well as new prepaid customers can opt for this plan however not mandatory as old plans will still remain in market..
(J&K ‘ll be excluded due to ban on prepaid)
Tarun October 30, 2009 at 10:02 pm

hahaha dats rt anuj just now docomo guys tweeted it …. citing “A triumph for Indian consumers … from today almost all operators will offer 1sec pulse. Anuj October 30, 2009 at 9:54 pm
Tune to any business news channel or websites of them.. Everyone is hyping Airtel’s per second billing move though some experts of these channels are criticizing company on its falling marings.
However I feel its a sign of strong brand name & popularity of any company. Whatever Airtel does, it gets hyped as well criticized..
naveen October 30, 2009 at 9:31 pm

Go with Airtel.
Dicku October 30, 2009 at 9:16 pm
Still both Uninor & Etisalat would be banking on MTNL/BSNL Network. They are not going to build their own network. How can we expect better service from new operators. It took almost 10 years for old operators to expand their network.
Remember the new operators do not have any MAGIC PEN..and expansion of network need lots of money & time.. so you cant expect better service from new operators.
My suggestion stick to your old operators else you would go back 10 yrs back when you use to face low network coverage, busy network etc.
Swaps October 30, 2009 at 9:16 pm
Now its Vodafone’s turn to launch it pan India.

“Airtel” – The Dragon
keep rokinn…..
well .. 78rc is much better and cheaper .. only 50rs/min and 60rs/min .. for one year .. bt it ws only for two days..
And Airtel launched this plan only for competition .. nobody will gonna leave Airtel even if it will not do so.. and that’s all because of its 24/7/365 days.. FULL NETWORK.. NO COMPLAINTS.. AVAILABLE EVEN IN COUNTRYSIDE AND HIGH MOUNTAINS/HILLS.. EVERYWHERE !!
AIRTEL ROCKS! Yeah! 8)
altaf October 30, 2009 at 8:42 pm
Now I feel the need of some premium service provider because it will be mess after some days. Congestion, call drop, poor voice quality etc. In emergency we are dead for sure! Holy shit man!
Anuj October 30, 2009 at 8:24 pm
Ya hats off to Ping for introducing concept of pay per second billing in India & hats off to Tata Docomo too for marketing this billing system so aggressively..! Fair competition always turns into something good.. Now almost all operators in India have per second billing plans (i think except Reliance)…

As per TRAI indications, all will be having per second, so go with the tried, etsed and reliable… Airtel/voda/idea…period.
Personally waiting for uninor (dont trust etisalat etc)
Anuj October 30, 2009 at 7:59 pm
I fear that this plan might come with heavy yearly rentals because Airtel has seen fall in margins this quarter. Also there is a larger than expected fall in ARPU which is not a good sign. Q2 results of Bharti has been announced today itself..
altaf October 30, 2009 at 7:58 pm
unexpected move by airtel
altaf October 30, 2009 at 7:58 pm
What the hell man ye kya ho raha hai jisko dekho per second billing iam confused which one to use!
Agnivo October 30, 2009 at 7:50 pm
@Siraj Ali
To stay as number one, they have to make it look premium and no cheapo stuff, cheap=congestion, harassment! RGSM is the proof… hope when all are migrated to simply reliance (mandatory after 6 months), congestion would be lesser.
Sanjay Bafna October 30, 2009 at 7:49 pm
The Offer is Clear as We Published on Telecom Talk-:1 PAISA PER SECOND for All Local and STD calls to Airtel Numbers anywhere in India and 1.20 PAISA PER SECOND for Local and STD calls to all other network across India.
Siraj Ali October 30, 2009 at 7:43 pm
It is not fair price comparison to other operator 1.2p/sec=72p/min so that makes some sense but still to cut low bcoz other operator provide below this if you are no.one operator in India why n’t you do some revolutionary step. It’s good that they rolled out the offer pan india…not struggling like others launching circle by circle, gradually.
Anuj October 30, 2009 at 7:42 pm
@ Tagor Varma, its 1.2 p/sec for calls to non Airtel numbers. Right now I am unable to open that article on PTI but check it from other sources like Times of India, NDTV, Zee, Rueters etc. All have same info that 1.2p/min for off net calls..
@Agnivo,
Considering my usages & calling pattern, I too find per sec billing costly for my primary number. At this moment, I am on corporate postpaid plan. But for my secondary number, I may think of this.
Agnivo October 30, 2009 at 7:34 pm
1.2p/sec=72p/min so that makes some sense.
It’s good that they rolled out the offer pan india…not struggling like others launching circle by circle, gradually.
Personally, i won’t take per second pulse…my calls are usually longer and per minute is cheaper.
Tagore Varma October 30, 2009 at 7:21 pm
The offer is not clear. Is it 1.2/per sec. or Rs 1.20 per minute? I read it is Rs 1.20 per minute or 2 paise per second in PTI news item. Please check it.
ANIRBAN October 30, 2009 at 7:17 pm

Initial cost of 66Rs..! Not so good then.. atleast costlier than any other operators pay per second plan. Still waiting for official announcement..
Anuj October 30, 2009 at 6:52 pm
@Fahad
No, with 1.2 p/sec makes 72 p/min, not a bad deal. And as said in article, Airtel to Airtel will be 1p/sec means indirectly 60p/min. Yeah, still its good as a optional to current per minute plans!
naveen October 30, 2009 at 6:51 pm
AIRTEL IS A BIG CHOR- Just got more details on the plan, HAVE TO RECHARGE WITH Rc 66 and plan is valid only for one year. @mukul
I too feel the same.. lets see what happens..
Anuj October 30, 2009 at 6:33 pm
I was expecting this. If they can offer flat 50p/min local tariff at very low prices like RC41 for one year, then its not a big deal to offer per second billing as optional to this. Good move we should say. Atleast people will have another option with Indians largest mobile operator.
Fahad October 30, 2009 at 6:33 pm
Mahanga hai…but still it ws nt expected
mukul October 30, 2009 at 6:32 pm
the price war started by new entrants is going to make customers smile in the short run, but it is going to have long term negative impact on the whole telecom story and its attractiveness…it will thwart further investment, it will clog telecom networks and QOS is going to drop, it can also hurt the economic development and growth which telecom has been able to bring to our country. This will continue till the weaker players throw in the towel.
Anuj October 30, 2009 at 6:30 pm
Finally Airtel joins the bandwagon of Pay Per Second billing..!
