Airtel still giving unlimited gprs to old customer
Prasath J December 20, 2009 at 1:39 pm
Airtel is feeling the heat of competition and they started giving 1p/sec to all network instead of 20% EXTRA 1.2p/sec.. But competition is now offering locals @ 1p/2sec or rent ranging from Rs40-50 per month…
So Airtel is always slow to give nice offers to its customers… But STILL it is a FORCED MOVE for sure from the market condition..
Sanjay Bafna December 20, 2009 at 10:41 am
Dear Emad, All the comments are under moderation except TelecomTalk staff members.
ishan December 20, 2009 at 9:52 am
the best on-net local calling pack in kolkata is still the BSNL 5paisa scheme(previously known as kolkata99).but the problem is u have to buy a new sim to avail this kolkata 5paisa scheme and u have to recharge with atleast Rs.124/month(Rs.50 talktime inbuilt)..
Emad December 20, 2009 at 8:09 am
@admin ji why my comment not publishing directly as RDB?
RDB December 20, 2009 at 8:01 am
and this is the 1st time airtel thinks about its customers who makes onnet calls more ! …
Emad December 20, 2009 at 7:33 am
@RDB
i think you r using this pack
but mts is better 10 paisa per mb
airtel is still so costly compared to reliance 50 paisa per mb
RDB December 20, 2009 at 6:46 am
u guys just checked voice tariffs. See airtel’s GPRS PACK, RC 94 is best for most users.
ARPU is decreasing in a alarming way, more than a rate experts thought. people using docmo for sms, for calling mts, internet aircel, so arpu is segmented here. SSTL(mts) sufffered a loss last quater. and most operators think to break even in 3-5 years.

It will be a super hit
same is with vodafone

If u have excess money to waste or convert black money into white then buy Airtel connection and then use ur money for these kinds of faltu tariffs which is utter waste of ones hard earned money..Total crap aka Airtel whose tail is down
kaushik December 19, 2009 at 9:56 pm
nothing new, tata will report loss, bharti report less ARPU,reliance report less profit than actual
kaushik December 19, 2009 at 9:46 pm
vodafone also introduces 500 SMS per day pack with Rc 29 and Rc 80 with validity of 10 days and 30 days respectively in kolkata
probably introduced it other circles of India also
Anuj December 19, 2009 at 8:13 pm
It will be interesting to see Q3 results of telecos!
Anuj December 19, 2009 at 8:10 pm
@ Sanjay Bafna, New operators need approx 67p/min to run into profits. But all have tariff ranging 1p/2 sec to atleast 60p/min. So I guess all new operators are running in losses. And as Tata Tele is public listed company, it has reported in the same. Reliance has reported that its profit is lowered by huge margin but no loss yet. Other public listed companies like Bharti & Idea cellular are still in profits. Vodafone would also be in huge profits but as it is not public listed company, it wont come out with exact details.
Anuj December 19, 2009 at 7:59 pm
Read news in todays paper that MNP is likely to delay. COAI has cleared that its members are not ready with the infrastructure to offer MNP by 31 Dec in Metros. COAI body said that it will take atlease 4 months of time from now.
What the hell… MNP & 3G, both are getting delayed again & again..
Anuj December 19, 2009 at 7:55 pm
Ya, you are right. In future tariff may slash further if government relieves to some extent on current heavy taxation. But at ve same time government is unlikely to revise tax structure in near future. When Mr. Sunil Mittal awarded that day by our president Mrs Pratibha Patil, he said same that telecom ministry always expect lower tariffs from telecos but it we have limitations due to currently imposed taxation. He indirectly suggested that government should revamp its tax structure on telecom sector.
Sanjay Bafna December 19, 2009 at 7:36 pm
By offering 25p/min (own net) as default tariff will hit their ARPU so still they are not willing to run towards that, in near future it might be possible to offer the same bcoz market conditions demands that!.
To sustain, all incumbents (old and established network) need average revenue 37p/min while new operator needs approx 67p/minute.
zeeshan December 19, 2009 at 7:31 pm
thats why reliance add 2.8 mn customers equal to airtel in Nov-09. People are gradually understanding benefits of reliance.
Anuj December 19, 2009 at 7:16 pm
Or atleast 25p/min on net to all customers by default. Then only it would be real Airtel advantage. Old advantage plans are crap. & I guess its not a big deal for them to offer cheap on net calls to all customers by default (without rechargog with any other RC) because they aren’t be paying interconnection charges in this case.
Anuj December 19, 2009 at 7:12 pm
Thanks..!
Emad December 19, 2009 at 6:48 pm
airtel to airtel should be 10 paisa per minute
Shiva December 19, 2009 at 6:43 pm

Anuj December 19, 2009 at 5:27 pm
Thta my mistake dude in hurry.. Sorry again. Of course its 1p/sec. It can never be 1p/min with Aittel atleast. I used to with /min so mistakenly writing it evertwhere… ;-(
Anuj December 19, 2009 at 5:24 pm
@San
In Maharashtra, on contrary to this, they have discontinued old Friends pack a long back which was offering night (10PM-8AM) local A2A calls at 10p/min. Old customers who are already on this pack have to pay 1Re/day rental to continue this benefit.
Dude, thata was my biggest mistake. I got it now. I mentioned min instead of sec. A mad man.
I even didnt get you in later post. Sorry for that. MODs pls modify my first pat otherwise it wioll mislead peoples.

@San
the lowest on-net pack in kolkata is BSNL 5 paisa(previously known as kolkata 99) which offers BSNL(kolkata circle)-BSNL(kolkata circle) @ 5 paisa/min..
in kolkata 99 plan night(11pm-7am) BSNL(kolkata circle)-BSNL(kolkata circle) just at 2.5paisa/min.
Avishek December 19, 2009 at 5:21 pm
Jooth pe Jhooth Kitne Jhooth bologe/likhge?? on their web site and call center clearly says its One Paisa/One Second not for Minute!!
RC 33-All local & std call @ 1/paise/sec validity 365(New Card offer only)
Anuj December 19, 2009 at 5:15 pm
Nop dude. Now either check their website or call again to CC. Better if you speak with senior executives as this pack is new, junior guys may not have proper information & they hesitate to look into system for latest. I have talked with senior CC executive & lady there not just informed me about revised tariff but also told about its availability & waved off conditions.
Anuj December 19, 2009 at 5:10 pm
This pack not just offer all local calls at 1p/min but all STD calls too at 1p/min. I mistakenly just mentioned local calls. You can confirm it by calling to CC. Or just visit Prepaid tariff section on OFFICIAL Airtel website here: http://airtel.in/wps/wcm/connect/airtel.in/Airtel.In/Home/ForYou/Mobile/Prepaid/Tariffs/
Then select Maharashtra & Goa from list of the circles & then select Tariff Rates page. Check it yourself!
San December 19, 2009 at 5:07 pm
@Anuj
Yes its very cheap since night chats often range from 30min to 1hour. So 5 paise per minute is just superb. Shelling out Rs3 in an hour won’t be a factor for heavy chatters.
Avishek December 19, 2009 at 5:02 pm
Yea they said its ONE PAISA for ONE Second to make call to all networks NOT 1paisa/min as you said in comments, so just again confirm plz b4 comment
Anuj December 19, 2009 at 5:02 pm
I doubt if this type of pack present in other circles. It shall be great if they introduce so in all circles.
Anuj December 19, 2009 at 4:59 pm
Dude, before commenting, call 09890098900, Airtel customer care MH & Goa circle & confirm it. No offense but confirm it first & then comment.
San December 19, 2009 at 4:57 pm
Its a good initiative from Airtel to introduce local onnet pack for such a cheap rate. This is the lowest onnet price currently in the offering by any operator in Kolkata circle.
San December 19, 2009 at 4:56 pm
@ RDB > The time mentioned will be from 11PM-6AM and not 7AM.
Avishek December 19, 2009 at 4:41 pm
1paisa/min ?? are yaar jooth mat bolo
Anuj December 19, 2009 at 4:36 pm
Hey, In Maharashtra & Goa too, they have further reduced the prices. With RC32, you can get ALL(not just A2A like earlier) local calls @1p/min. SMS rates are same old but many conditions are waved off & this voucher can be combined with SMS vouchers. Validity-1 yrear. New customers can join join this with SIM kit price of RS33.
Other new RC is RC26 which offer all local calls @40p/min & all STD calls @50p/min from second call of the day. For first call, regular tariff will apply. SMS charges @50p/SMS. If customers with already lowered SMS charges recharge with this, they will continue getting their old SMS tariff along with the other benefits of this recharge. Validity 1 year. For new customers, SIM kit+this tariff @ 27 Rs. This voucher can be availed by customers on any plan including Friends & campus pack.
Like RC94 GPRS pack in Kolkata, RC89 exists in Mah & Goa offering exact same benefits. Note that free 2GB can be used here in between 12AM to 6AM.
Airtel’s biggest competitors in this circle (Idea & Vodafone) have not yet slashed their tariffs to match up with this.
kaushik December 19, 2009 at 3:25 pm
In Mumbai Airtel gives all local Airtel calls @ 30 paise and other local & std calls @ 50 paise with RC 65
