“As customers in India show an increasing propensity for consuming data services, we at Airtel are excited to take the lead in introducing the market to the power of blazing 4G speeds. With the help of the feedback received from the beta launches, we have now built India’s first commercial 4G network. Today, as we launch Airtel 4G for our customers in Tirunelveli, they will be uniquely positioned for a superlative 4G experience. We are committed to building a world class 4G network in the region," said George Mathen, HUB CEO – Kerala & Tamil Nadu, Bharti Airtel.

Airtel started the 4G saga by launching India’s first 4G network in Kolkata in 2012. By August 2015, the operator announced the inclusion of 4G services across 296 towns across India. After successful trials across the country, the operator is strengthening its 4G service experiences. As a part of its national 4G roll out, Airtel has announced several attractive initiatives for its customers. One such is ‘Wynk movies’, a mobile app that will offer movies and popular videos.

Airtel 4G Plans and Prices

Airtel is also offering 4G services for 3G prices, with packs starting at INR 28. The infinity plans begin at INR 999. These high-end plans offer unlimited voice calls on mobile (first time in India) along with data benefits and access to ‘Wynk Movies’ and ‘Wynk Music’.

Airtel also promises features such as instant SIM swap, home delivery of SIM cards and postpaid connections, flex page for users to know their data usage etc. as a part of the 4G launch.
