Airtel Now Offers 4G dongle at Rs1500

Airtel recently had reduced rates of its 4G plans to 3G level. Now yet another move from Airtel to push its 4G internet. Airtel has slashed rate of 4G USB dongle to Rs 1500 as special offer.

Airtel 4G Dongle Rs 1500

One of the main reason people stayed away from Airtel 4G was due to high cost of 4G modem and expensive plans. At the time of launch, USB dongle was Rs 7999. Now Airtel has reduced both to 3G level. Interestingly Airtel has reduced cost of 4G USB Dongle only. 4G WiFi router still cost Rs 4000. Airtel wants to push 4G to mobile Broadband users.

As Reliance Jio is all set to launch 4G in the next few months, Airtel has become aggressive with its 4G service. Airtel 4G LTE is currently available in Kolkata, Bengaluru, Pune & Chandigarh. Airtel is set to roll out its 4G in Mumbai and Delhi after acquiring 4G license from Qualcomm.

Not getting how to get Airtel 4G dongle. Placed online request for the same so many time. But no one is response from Airtel Customer Care / Sales Dept.

If there is no response with continuous follow-ups – then no use or point of online keeping requests.

First roll out this 4G LTE all over India na, I am totally fed up of poor speeds of 3G here in UP east..just idea is here to serve 3G with mere 1-2 Mbps data speeds, though I’ve a BSNL broadband connection but that shit thing disconnects nearly 50 times a day.

My situation is pathetic, I want to pay for high-speed internet, but no ISP is here to provide high-speed internet. Right, now using idea’s so called unlimited 1449 plan and the fallback speed after FUP, is mere 80 Kbps, can you imagine? 80Kbps on air in the age of fiber broadband? sigh!

    • gspal November 23, 2013 10:56 pm

@Sameer. Ditto is my problem in Lucknow and one can imagine my frustration as I work from home as a medical transcriber. I can do limited offline work only while there is more work online. But then there is no continuous/stable broadband available for that kind of work. BSNL is central govt subsidized/sponsored garbage with nil customer services. Their SDOs of Tel Exchanges should be transferred to Kala Pani. It is time TRAI imposes fines on BSNL for poor wireline broadband be it copper lines or fiber lines.

I dont know why tt has not done an article on this yet but vodafone seems to have reduced PAYG for 2G to 2p/10kb on a pan india basis.i have confirmed the same with the cc and have treid it out myself and it does seems to be working.i would encourage and tt author or analyst to try the same and post the results

  • Chinmoy November 5, 2013 5:25 pm

RDB , please dont tell its available in Kolkata . Its factually incorrect . Only a very small part of Kolkata circle is covered with Airtel 4G . Also please clarify if the dongle is unlocked and can be used with 3G SIM ?

I am using aircel for one week roaming in tamil nadu, one must say they offering good 3g coverage in metro and town area but in villages they have coverage but mostly 3g not avaliable, in tamil best 3 g coverage is airtel but their tariff is double the price than the aircel.

Hey friends i am a low level telephone user(monthly recharge max up 30Rs.). I usually use Rs.20 recharge coupon, but for several times (4 times it happens to me) when i scratch that silver coloured substance i lost some numbers,so i cannot recharge. I called there customer centre and officers that they charged me cost of local call. So i found that to charge a 20Rs coupon i need to spend about 6Rs for ther customer care. What the hell is this?do you have this kind problem ?

    • Tharun George November 5, 2013 11:45 am

Instead of calling customer care, you should call complaints number 198 toll free.

  • SS November 5, 2013 9:15 am

It seems like Idea is now capping speeds for non-Idea 3G roamers on its network. Earlier i used to use my airtel Delhi number in UP EAST and would get around 6-7 Mbps but now its maximum going to 1.9 Mbps. But on using a local Idea SIM, i am still getting 6-7 Mbps.

Its really sad because i used to get 1 GB for only Rs 157 (3G) on airtel 3G whereas i would get the same for Rs 255 on Idea.

Waiting for Vodafone in my city. I don’t know where are they! :-(

Is this locked to airtel ?

  • Arif November 4, 2013 10:24 pm

Just visited mouthshut. More then 90% are saying Airtel 4G is not worth.

  • chandra November 4, 2013 8:52 pm

Airtel must bring some unlimited plans like first few GBs at full 4G speed and then the rest at a capped speed like 512 Kbps or 1 Mbps.

    • Swarnava November 4, 2013 10:42 pm

      +1000

      • younus636 November 5, 2013 2:43 am

this will happen in next 10 years surely with limited coverage area,
In next 7 years well get unlimited 3g with full coverage

        • Rama November 5, 2013 5:21 pm

Thats never gonna happen because then the speed will no longer be at 3G levels infact it may even become worse than current edge speeds

  • Sugu November 4, 2013 8:47 pm

Reliance Jio is coming….wait for it..

      • janedo - Delhi August 6, 2014 5:31 pm

Reliance Jio is already neck deep in trouble with DoT & govt for hawala of Rs 6500 crore from Singapore via ICICI for acquiring Infotel which had got the pan India 4G license in 2005, but never started services. Reliance Jio may soon be Reliance ‘Murrio’

  • Dushie November 4, 2013 5:56 pm

This is a very old news, they have been offering 4g Dongles at this price for nearly 2 months now.

    • Rama November 4, 2013 7:14 pm

+1.for what i know airtel 4G is not worth it because many people have reported that airtel is capping 4G speeds to 10mbps.connection is not stable.Post FUP speed is very low.coverage is also not good.device ecosystem is also not there.
