Aggressive Pricing Working For Airtel?

Airtel which has been recording a continuous decline in revenue market share as compared to competitors, seems to be benefiting from its new aggressive pricing strategy.

If you compare numbers the first quarter numbers of this fiscal put out by TRAI to those of the last quarter for the previous year, it seems that their revenue share in the market is growing.

Lets have a closer look at the Revenue Market Share of Airtel Idea and Vodafone.

If you see the numbers it looks like Vodafone and Idea are dropping.

Airtel had made changes to its pricing earlier this year, including taking the lead in reducing high-end data prices (3G) by up to 70% to improve its revenue market share. And it looks like its working.

What do you guys think about the pricing of Airtel, Vodafone and Idea? Share your views.

In Kolkata when I tried to call any Airtel mobile number from BSNL landline, it often gets cross connection with other numbers. It happening from last 6 months or so.

Is anybody else face the same in Kolkata ? Is it a new business trick by Airtel and BSNL together ?

It’s time to wake up Airtel.

Most of the people are started using dual sim phones… One for incoming calls and other for outgoing calls… For incoming calls they prefer Airtel & BSNL and outgoing calls Idea & TATA DocomO are popularly used network. If Airtel stay with their old pricing strategy then they have to lose revenue and bear increased cost. At the same time developing networks like idea and docomo may develop their signal as well customer strength. Airtel can go for Aggressive Pricing Strategy. Since, you are holding highest no. of customers and cost per customer is less.

It’s time to wake up Airtel.

Jagan is absolutely rite; Many Airtel customer is using just sake of signal not for regular usage whereas Docomo and Vodafone is good plans/tarriff.

Airtel does not have good SMS packs for prepaid subscribers in Orissa. The tariff is also high as compared to other good operators like Vodafone, Idea, Aircel and Tata Docomo. Most people are porting out of Airtel and others are using an Airtel SIM mostly for incoming calls only because of it’s Network Coverage.

Recharge with 40 and get 100local+national sms TO ANY NETWORK DAILY

Most of the subscribers have sims of major players like airtel, idea, vodafone, tatadocomo (to name few) and therefore use them prudently based on the tariff plans, be it voice, data, sms. So the graphs change based on their plans/circles Idea’s stv70 (ftt) has been very popular and now airtel too introduced the same. As for bonus cards, almost all have the 1.2p sec therefore in conjunction subscribers use them. Interestingly, idea has started withdrawing vouchers day in and day out like airtel. Tatadocomo too started rejigging their packs especially data 2g packs which is still cheaper than others. Players should keep in mind that cheaper the tariffs more subscribers go for it and at the end revenue generation will be the results. Also remember the subscribers can not fooled like stvs like 110 std /local calls for Rs.55 …115 stv with 230 calls (@50p/call) ! They can confuse few subscribers for long but not all for long…… as the saying goes…! Earlier the retailers were happy to offer suggestive stvs. But retailers too are put into losses (stopping of REVERSALS and other unfriendly attitudes/offers/benefits/commissions offered by the stake holders the retailers are offering “What You Ask We Give you, and no complaints after the sales”.

But there is no sops for voice subscribers by Airtel in Andhra Pradesh. It is still costly network, may be it thinks AP consumers are richer than neighbouring Karnataka people.

Telecom market here is an ocean and you can’t attribute a single strategy change to miracles.Nevertheless there hasn’t been anything much at airtel to suggest aggressive pricing.

Aircel which first reduced the price of 3G data and not Airtel. In fact Airtel merely responded to Aircel’s price reduction! But now you have mentioned here that it was Airtel who reduced the 3G prices!

Here in Bangalore also airtel is the best.
Now its also providing 1p/2s (30p/min) all LOC+STD to any network at Rs. 97 for 90 days.

I know its still costlier compared to TATA DOCOMO but if we look overally in terms of network as well as tariff then airtel ROCKS!!!

Airtel, Vodafone rock because of their coverage, constant net, and voice quality. Airtel has covered much of India’s rural coverage than any other operator. Docomo is a ‘bachcha’ in regard of coverage.

Airtel is costliest here. Airtel Pay Per Second costs Rs. 21 for 90 Days, where as Vodafone PayPerSec @Rs. 6 for 6 Months.

    Airtel offers only 1GB 2G Gprs @Rs. 98 where as Vodafone gives 2GB @Rs98.

PayPerSec and 2G Data is the most used services.
So, Airtel is costliest in North East.
