In India 3G came late compared to other developed countries, it has been 3 years 3G had been launched in India, but 3G services are yet to be a mass adopted technology unlike 2G is a massive hit. On 3G the main USP is data services i.e. high speed internet.

Though initially 3G was very costly, but recently all operators cut down 3G prices to make it affordable. The PSU duo BSNL and MTNL often offer better value for data plans than private 3G operators.

Let's check out September 2012's 3G data plan comparison chart.

* BSNL is providing 25 % extra data as promotional offer on voucher Rs.225 & Rs.360 during next 3 months too. BSNL offers pan India free data roaming including Delhi and Mumbai on MTNL's network.

# Tata Docomo has seperate plans for mobile and Photon 3G data cards as well as speed based plans.

MTNL is not taken into the table, as it is available only in Delhi and Mumbai.

Conclusion: On low end packs BSNL rocks, while Aircel is also offering cheaper packs which include unlimited 2G access, so its now the user to decide which to opt wisely. Do let us know which operator 3G you prefer and why.
