Post-MNP era when each n every Mobile Service Providers are trying to keep their existing customer and invite new customer by showing lower tariffs and batting on network quality over massive media campaign.
In Kolkata telecom circle, Aircel, BSNL, IDEA Cellular, Reliance Mobile, Tata Docomo and Uninor offers Flexible tariffs with Special Tariff Vouchers for own-net calling.
While reviewing the Local On-Net calling STVs and Bonus Cards available in Kolkata circle, Airtel and Vodafone, these two big brothers are bringing Inflexible tariffs for even on-net calling by over priced STVs/Bonus Cards.
Recently Airtel and Vodafone came up with RCV 94 (denomination is same for both of them) by which users can enjoy Local On-Net calling at 10p/Min for a period of 30 days. Now we have summed up the data of on-net calling based on Kolkata circle which will help us to understand who is offering what.
Here are the details :
| Operator | RCV MRP | BENEFIT | Validity |
| Aircel | Rs.35 | Local On-Net @10p/Min | 30 Days |
| Rs.124 | Local On-Net @10p/Min | 180 Days | |
| Idea | Rs.26 | Local On-Net @10p/Min | 30 Days |
| Uninor | Rs.32 | 1000 Mins Local On-Net | 30 Days |
| Tata DOCOMO | Rs.25 | Local On-Net @1p/6sec | 30 Days |
| BSNL | Rs.124 | Intra-Circle Mobile@5p/Min
(with Rs.30 TT and 50 Local Bundled SMS and 50% flat off at night) |
30 Days |

| Airtel | Rs.94 | Local On-Net @10p/Min | 30 Days |
| Vodafone | Rs.94 | Local On-Net @10p/Min | 30 Days |
Now we ask you what is your take on it ?

In Haryana if u recharge ur Airtel no. with 5rs u get A2A 10p A2O 40 L+S and all roaming I/O 50p for 6 months.
Anwar Kacchi May 22, 2011 at 8:29 pm
Here in maharastra Airtel starts giveing new offer as A2A 10ps/min
A2O 1ps/sec
200 Sms per day free for 1Year day 1st sms 1.50ps
512mb GPRS free for 1st month after recharging with 34 Rs….its the best offer by Airtel Isnt it……
Kaushik Roy April 21, 2011 at 12:19 pm
I am using Airtel with A2A 10 paise pack with daily Re 1 rental and Vodafone with Bonus Card 94 with V2V 10 paise – so total cost is around Rs 124 and not Rs 188 plus in Airtel also getting other local calls @ 30 paise.STD is 50 paise for both operators.
Now with both Airtel and Vodafone giving 10 paise call their subscriber base is increasing and almost 90% number of my contacts are of these two operators (both personal and official)

In kolkata uninor netwk is much better than docomo, aircel, reliance
dskushwaha March 15, 2011 at 2:37 pm
RGSM Rs. 49 vocher doesn’t give you Unlimited R2R but it is only Unlimited Local R2R not the STD.
Kaushik Roy March 15, 2011 at 1:19 pm
Both Uninor and Docomo is just above average in kolkata
so one can use these SIMS as backup number not as primary numbers
Best is using Airtel and Vodafone in dual SIM phone with which one can get 95-96% coverage in Kolkata and West bengal circle (both indoor and outdoor)
I am using Airtel MNP offer of A2A 10 paise,A2 other local 30 paise and all STD 50 paise and Vodafone MNP offer of all local calls 30 paise and all STD 50 paise

Ruchit Shah March 15, 2011 at 10:08 am
@ROHINI
Uninor has no sms schemes for new connections. I just bought Uninor’s sim and I need to pay Rs16 per month still it charges Re1 for first two sms and then 100 sms free for the day that equals to 46rs per month. Whereas nowadays the discount plan i get is only 5% to 10%. My screen flashes 20% max but when i call it shows maximum 10% DP. So i am going to port to Docomo as it provides 100 sms free after first sms charged at 60p.

ROHINI March 15, 2011 at 8:56 am

WHY SHOULD WE GO FOR VODAFONE & AIRTEL??? UNINOR IS THERE…. UNINOR IS IMPROVING IS’S COVERAGE A LOT……… UNINOR ALSO HAS THE FINEST 2G GPRS SPEED……… SO ,I THINK, PEOPLE SHOULD GO FOR UNINOR….

So..? Clearly Tata gsm (DoCoMo) is the most affordable/flexible with ULTRA-SPLIT time
considerations. Need to say more? – they are the game-changers. I request Mr Anirban to come out with a similar comparison chart regarding on-net STD tariffs. Thanks.
ROHINI March 15, 2011 at 8:52 am
UNINOR’S RCV 32 IS THE BEST… UNINOR ALSO HAS BETTER NETWORK COVERAGE THAN IDEA & RELIANCE GSM IN KOLKTA…. SO, WHY SHOULD WE PAY MORE ON “THE CHOR” VODAFONE & AIRTEL???
Abhijit March 15, 2011 at 8:09 am
In Maharashtra Circle various on-net offers provided are as follow
Aircel is giving on net calls at 10ps/min for Rs.22/month.
Uninor is giving 2000mins for on-net in Rs.38/month.
Docomo is giving 10ps/min on-net local + Std on-net at Rs.24/month.
Bsnl is giving on-net at 10ps/min for Rs.65/month.
Reliance GSM & Cdma gives all local on-net calls at 0.20ps/min in Rs.27/month.
Tata Indicom gives all on-net local calls at 0.15ps/min and Std on-net at 0.30ps/min at rs.40/month
Mts gives on-net unlimited free at Rs.95/month and daily 150minutes free in Rs.495 with lifetime scheme.
But Biggies of Maharashtra who has there network coverage at most places that are Airtel,Idea,Vodafone are giving on-net offers but applicable at night only(11pm to 7pm) and that too costly than other operators.
Nilanjan March 15, 2011 at 7:45 am
Hate vodafone,airtel..because these two operators suck maximum no of money from the people..
Nilanjan March 15, 2011 at 7:43 am

Recently i have been ported from bsnl to vodafone……They are offering me now local onnet 20p/sec & all other calls(loca & STD) 40p/sec. What else anyone can expect from vodafone? Network coverage is very good all over India. Everyone wants to keep their primary number as vodafone. As you can also see that most of the corporate connections are of Vodafone. Its all about network coverage & service that matters.
S.santra March 15, 2011 at 12:32 am
The Bigis (airtel, voda.. ) know that customer want more flexible offer from them. So they tease us (with this kind of offer) where their rpu is strong..

@amarjeet don’t u hav any other work friends calculating these rates and offers …the PVT operators making u all mad to run behind them by introducing new rates daily and making u all not to think prospectively ..why don’t u select a operator who is nominal and reliable..if u ignore the services who r cheating ..then only they will be correct in all aspects..don’t waste time to improve the business of mittals, tatas, birlas, essars, and etc…select a prominent operator who is reliable to u & to your country automatically they will give u good services…knowing cheat scolding them is not productive… ignore them to realize u friends
@karan why man… waste of time..they are giving different non-sensible offers to different customers..also they r not concentratig on rural sectors..then wat s the use of them when ever u want to be in a village your service provider s not strong in that area will u carry five sims with u wat a pitty..

Raaj March 14, 2011 at 9:54 pm
the reason why vodafone and airtel rock and make them the choicest of all the other networks is their superior network quality, responsive cc and best VAS.if they have to compete with reliance/BSNL as far as tariff is concerned, they have to degrade their network capabilities.let MNP cpmplete 1 yr,the winner will be not someone giving lower tariffs and worst network but the one with best services and reasonable tariff rates(if this was not the case, why would vodafone benefit from MNP more than any other so called cheap service providers due to MNP as mentioned in TT)
Ruchit Shah March 14, 2011 at 9:36 pm
Wow rs 94 pack is so cheap.. In Gujarat we need to Recharge with Rs135 for V-V 10p/min. Who the hell is going to recharge with STV Rs135 for V-V 10p/min. Better to use Vodafone/Airtel for Emergency only and call from Docomo/Uninor.
jagan March 14, 2011 at 8:37 pm
AirTel & Voda are same in tariff. They must have some agreement on pricing. For eg. Every operator launches 1p/sec for all, they give 1p/sec for their own network and 1.2p/sec for other networks. Now, This plan is followed by these two only. So for MNP, the tariffs are not going to low like past days.
Sanjay Bafna March 14, 2011 at 8:27 pm
No all STVs including BSNL Rs.124 mention in the post are only for Kolkata circle.
Ketan March 14, 2011 at 8:26 pm
Vodafone & airtel is now stomach full and they are not willing to have more customers by offering them lower tariff. They however want to recover their licence fees and make crores of rupees profits by burning the pocket of their customers. But thank god mnp is now available and customer can now opt their choices.
Saurabh March 14, 2011 at 8:17 pm

no so much diffrence between airtel/voda/idea and docomo in tariffs

its not logical boss!!!!companies know very well that whatever voucher people use, generally call is made between 2 to 5 people, within which call is made a a larger freq.So no need of 100 million base.
ANIRBAN March 14, 2011 at 5:53 pm

voda -voda 10p @ rs. 38 only for 30days
and i-i 10p @ rs. 33 for 30 days…..
wat is costly in above schemes ??????/
Rajiv March 14, 2011 at 4:50 pm
I dont think one can compare these rates only on price. Airtel and Vodafone have a much larger subscriber base and therefore you get 10 paise benefit over a much larger group. Therefore, the plans will always be costlier than, lets say a company like MTS which hardly has any subscriber base.
rohan March 14, 2011 at 4:49 pm
Aircel is givining 15p/min on net , 30p/min other and 50p std with rc of 22 with 18 rs taltime and 1yr validity. I am getting this msg everyday by aircel. My all frnds are from doco so i use 25. IDEA is also giving 30p local and 50p std for 1yr thats for free

that offer only in kolkata not in other state.
TD March 14, 2011 at 3:51 pm

S.santra March 14, 2011 at 3:43 pm
Local Airtel to airtel call 35p/min for 1 year with RC54 in kol and wb. Now compare.
karan March 14, 2011 at 3:37 pm
in punjab vodafone charges 95 for 3 months…10ps on net calls. same airtel charges 96 for 12 weeks
amarjeet March 14, 2011 at 3:14 pm
@Kaushik Roy
85% of your contact are airtel and vodafone .but you will not recharge Rs.94 in each vodafone and airtel.if recharge, you will give 188 for only reduction of call rate + call charge extra.
I am telling that 94 is too much .
Saurabh March 14, 2011 at 2:55 pm
Some days back airtel have launched Rs151 recharge voucher which is providing 42000sec on airtel and 18000sec on others but the only thing is their sms rates are too high…..
AVISEK March 14, 2011 at 2:47 pm
BSNL has most cheapest plan than other. But the fact is that at beginning bsnl net work was very poor that’s why people has no trust on bsnl network.but now bsnl developed it’s network 98%.One thing everybody should remember that if u use bsnl u are giving money for ur country.but if u use vod, uninor this type of private player then u are helping the the foreign country.now decession is yours.Which connection would u like to prefer?
surya March 14, 2011 at 2:45 pm
airtel and vodafone r bigtime losers…dnt knw who the hell granted them licences…they shld be kickd out from our country…dnt knw y r they acting pricey..they shld learn from other operators like docomo and idea..
Aman March 14, 2011 at 2:10 pm
Even after MNP, a ported number can still be identified as on-net or off-net so an uninor no ported into airtel can have on net calling with all airtel number and vice-versa.
For others, i would request you to do a dip-stick check in ur phonebooks and c how many numbers are on airtel/vodafone and you would realise why they r so “over-priced”
Kaushik Roy March 14, 2011 at 2:05 pm
@AMAR
majority of my contacts are from Vodafone and Airtel (around 85%)
then i have BSNL around 5%,RCDMA 4%,(MTS,Idea,RGSM,Tata,Aircel 1% each)

AMAR March 14, 2011 at 1:40 pm
maximum people make call to 10-20 people of their friend circle, relatives or you can say on-net calls.
i don’t think any body make call to 1 crore person of the same state.
the voucher is highly over-priced.
maximum price Rs.30-Rs.50 is payable to big Operator like airtel and vodafone
Kaushik Roy March 14, 2011 at 1:23 pm
but with RC 94 one can call more than 1 crore customers of Airtel and Vodafone respectively ,where as other operators having customers of just 40 lakhs on an average in West Bengal
BSNL 5 paise offer is just for kolkata circles and 30 paise for ROB circle
so keeping all factors in mind tariff is not too bad
gaurav jha March 14, 2011 at 1:11 pm
reliance and voda both are THUGS.

Ashish March 14, 2011 at 12:48 pm
@arshad
they are going towards voda and airtel due to their network coverage
and QoS wh ich are one of the most important things
PD March 14, 2011 at 12:41 pm
On-net call offer has lost its significance after MNP, mainly because a subscriber can not identify the network by just numbering sequence. Pre MNP regime it was easy.
arshad March 14, 2011 at 12:35 pm
Vodafone and airtel were always a nightmare to existing customers. Vodafone has solicited customers only through ads. I don’t know why people are still changing to vodafone and airtel.
Amit.G March 14, 2011 at 12:33 pm
Simple use new operator for outgoing like inbetween family/friends n keep airtel/vodafone for incoming n making official outgoing calls
